Double Standards?
We have the thread about "life as a black man" board game and 'oh, it's awful what they're doing', exploitation, etc..
THEN we have threads that use the word "rice" and it's ha ha good time funny.
Is that a double standard?

BUT...the term rice comes from rice burner. Implying that an Import car made in an Asian country uses rice for fuel. That in a sense is derogatory. I do use the term and dont mean it in a derogatory way towards Asians, but it can be taken that way. I do believe that on some level it is a double standard.
Fully depends on your definition of rice.
There are alot of people out there who use rice as a double standard. Any import car to them is rice. - IMO thats a double standard.
Then there are those people who have a definition of rice. Any body can be a ricer and any car can be turned into rice. Rice can be defined as fixing a car up in the tackiest of ways to give it the appearence of it being fast when in truth it is still slow (like pretending an econo 4 banger car is a race car). - IMO that is making fun of someone who made some stupid choices themselves b/c they wanted to *fit into societies mold better* , kinda like the young girls (and guys, it's be proven) that feel that they need to look like supermodels.

The capin' got it right, there is no double standard when it comes to me on this subject. My bro has a chevy calelier that he has turned to rice

That's an interesting question, I guess in my opinion I feel attitudes in general seem to be more considerate to just about any other race than Asian Americans. Their contribution to America tends to be overlooked greatly (mostly Chinese), from the major role they played in the transcontinental railroad to their nearly indentured servant status. It has been suggested by some authors that in general the African American slave life was arguably suprerior to the Asian's for numerous reasons I won't get into here.
All that marshmellow bull***** aside, I agree with the other posts in that the comment should be taken in the light of the person who makes the comment not any and every person who may be offended by the comment (the definition of PC). I think the point of divergence in your two examples has to do with the seriousness of the issue. When people here talk about "rice" burners they are usually joking and just shooting the ***** about how they beat one or how their stupid brother got one. When the board game came up, I believe everybody turned into more of a conceptual thinking, non-joking mode.
Just like if Spain started producing a popular car you might see someone post "the Spic-mobile is a piece of crapola that runs on burrito beans" but if a Hispanic was physically beaten due to his race you would see the posts become much more serious sans the burrito beans references.....
