Who snowmobiles ?

Well this has nothing to do with engines but, I am a avid sledder and a part time ford driver. Mostly to the trail and back. I`m getting more into the truck stuff now due to lack snow.

Who else here is a sledder.

Hi Slider79,

Probably the wrong place for this discussion, but I just wanted to let you know you aren't the only "sledder" on the board. Although, after the crappy winter we just had, I can hardly say I rode much... Hopefully you had more out your way.

p.s we're a "Cat" family - 600ZRT, ZR440, Jag440

Nothing beats the adrenaline rush of the acceleration of these machines, and I don't even have a "muscle" sled! Started out with a '72 AC Panther 399, then '77 Kawasaki Sno-Jet 440, then '80 Polaris TX 440, then '90 Polaris Indy Trail(lots of mods, sleeper in it's day), then my first new sled '99 AC ZL600 EFI, current sled '02 AC ZL600 EFI SS. Dying to try out new Yamaha 4-stroke. I heard this sled really kicks, plus yamaha finally caught up with AC and used front wishbone suspension, actually so did Ski-Doo. Polaris? Hello?

This was such a crappy winter. Rode about 300 miles here in Buffalo area when we got 7 feet of snow, then 1200 miles the rest of the year trailering to the Adirondacks. Longest ride this year was 255 miles, 14 hours, in February in Adirondacks.(New personal daily record) Does anyone know of a site like this for snowmobilers? By the way, it's almost sport truck season and of course I have a Ford, that's why i'm here, sorry about the snowmobile talk!

Every weekend we head up to Revelstoke B.C (Canadian eh) and play in the steep and deep Western Rocky Mountains!

Tons of powder and probably the best snow in years!

Our group ride modfied sleds....430lbs chassis's with 180-250HP motors, can you say FAST!

Fast sleds...Nice Supercrews, does life get any better!

Sucky winter...

I ride sleds as well. For now I have a1999 MXZ 600 and have a 2003 Skidoo MXZ Renegade 600HO on order. I managed 1200 miles this year in one terrible winter. Probably one more weekend left to ride. The sled looks cool in the back of my black F150 w/ ORP.

Oldnnew- Sledmaine is a site very close to this one that many people are on that live/ride in Maine if you are interested.

2001-What is it that you modify and ride?? 430lbs and 180+hp

Slider,

Red Wing is a pretty neat town, I've never been thier but my dad said it was neat. Has the Red Wing Shoe company done a lot for the town and such, or would the town still be the same without the company.

Sorry its off topic, but hey

Love the feeling of going 90mph down snowy trails, hittin' sloloms and jumps, going all out. Not to mention the beautiful scenery and the old cliche "getting away from it all". I drove an AC 580ZR until I crashed it up in VT a couple of years ago. Fortunately, I was not on the sled when it hit a tree 12 feet off the trail. It still ran and got me to my truck even with a caved in nose and dislogded muffler. Then I sold it for 1200 bucks.

I'm hoping to get a new 600ZR this year along with a trailer for next season. Beleive it or not, I actually forgot to get one for the last couple of years because I've been so busy. But I miss it, very much.

Thanks for bringing this up. Actually, it brings up a good truck related question. How do you like to set up your truck for getting to the trails? Tires, susp., drivetrain, engine, trans., equip., trailer, etc.

Worst winter in years for riding in the Northeast. That did'nt stop me from ordering a Firecat F5 in black, w/ Team Arctic Graphics and the Sno-Pro suspension. Also ride a '99 ZR440 Sno-Pro that I'll be selling soon. My '97 4x4 Flareside , reg cab 4.6l w/5speed pulls it really nice.

Thumbs up

Half hour from Tug Hill!

The weird thing is, no snow at my house, half an hour ride, 10 feet of it.

Still, only a measly 800 miles this year. Low for me.

I rode for the first time out of the garage last Saturday. Six inch, unfrozen, wet, no base, rock ride. My Arctic Cat was a Tigershark for a day. Ohh well, i have all summer to fix it, and trailering is getting lame.

'99 ZL 500 EFI with Fox. One more season and it will be time to put her out to pasture. This sled has WAY exceeded my expectations. It's been fantastic.

Snowmobiles Rule ...

Just got back from the U.P. Plenty of snow up there yet (3 to 4 feet), a friend and I rode 102 miles friday night. (from 1 to 4 in the morning). Then 363 miles saturday from 7 in the morning to about 9 that night. Great riding mostly between 70 and 80 mph the whole time... I always ride alot every year usually 3000 miles. some years though I put alot of miles on my truck and trailer getting to it though. Like this one.... My 97 XC 600 (bought new in 99) just rolled 12,000 miles this trip. I pound on this sled and have never had a problem, absolutely nothing!!! But I take very good care of it maintenace wise. A Green and Black sled would never do that. ( Or is that Black and Green ) Ha...
