Article: Faulty Part Found in some Ford SUVs
(That's the title of the Chicago Tribune article that I just read.)
2 days after picking up my brand-new F150 XLT Supercab 4x4, a friend calls to tell me he read about a "recall" (in quotes because it turns out it's not really a recall). I went to the website and clipped and pasted the article below. Pretty vague.
Does anyone know any more details about the faulty part? It says it's only 4wd vehicles affected, and it appears to not be a safety recall...

Faulty part found in some Ford SUVs
From Tribune staff, wire reports
Published March 23, 2002
Ford Motor Co. said Friday it has delayed shipment of several lines of four-wheel-drive sport utility vehicles because of a faulty part produced by a supplier. Affected are the Ford Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac, Expedition, F-150 below the 8500 size and Lincoln Navigator, spokeswoman Della DiPietro said. The problem with an electric motor was detected "earlier this winter." DiPietro declined to say how many vehicles needed to be repaired or which supplier built the motor. Repairs should be completed by the end of the month, and a recall would not be necessary, she said.
