I know you guys are having bandwidth problems, and the search engine is oh hold for right now due to the sheer number of posts.

But a bit ago you made it clear that you wanted us to post in the right forums about stuff. A lot of us fought it at first because it was a change, and we got used to do things a certain way. I am personally glad i would the GD board i have found a lot of nice and very helpful people here.

Here is the problem i see now. You are counting any posts here towards post counts. I see this causing people going back to not venturing here, to some people they do enjoy as there post count climbs. This is a nice and fun community now, i hope its something maybe you guys will rethink. In the long run i think it will cause you guys to going back to having to move a lot more threads here, and there lack of activity after that.

We certainly enjoy having Ashenor post here. If the counter isn't going to be turned on could you advance him about 500 towards his count? You could just change the author on 500 of mine.

(Only sick ones though. You'd be doing us both a favor.)

 

Honestly it does not really bother me, the whole post count thing. But i know others are a bit upset about it. I just think that it is going to keep some newer people from coming here and posting.

 

Can I be brutally honest?

If a new visitor to F150online is unwilling to use our forums because post counts are not counted in the General Discussion section, then that visitor is probably not of the maturity level of the kind of people we want associated with this site.

 

I'm not here for post counts. I'm here for information and I've recieved a ton of it in two and a half years. If a person is only worried about post count, then I think they're on the wrong site. Just my opinion.

My response was not directed towards you, it was a response to a statement that new users would not come to the site if post counts in General Discussion were not included. I stand by my statement. We won't be adding any new forums in the near future, not because they are not a good idea, rather because I don't want to change the forum environment until our server problems are 100% resolved.

As far as I'm concerned, you can make my post count a negative number!

As for Raoul trying to pawn off 500 or so of this crappy posts.... well maybe a permanent post count of 4 or so and a change of title to "Board troll looking for an argument".

There's even a rumor that he put a dress on, and signed up from another IP just so he could be member #20,000.

 

Thank you Steve - I appreciate the reply. I felt really bad when I first read it but I can see your point now.
I could start posting in all the other forums & if the post count was my ultimate reason for posting I would. However, it's not the reason I post. It's just a way for me to feel like I "belong" when I look at the #. The reason I stay here is I have found my little niche on this site, made MANY wonderful friends & am w/in my level of "expertise" here in GD. I feel out of place in the other forums since I know my knowledge doesn't measure up to the rest of the members there. Rather than post in the rest to "advance" my count I will stay here & wait for the problem to be fixed & for the posts here to count again. I guess I want to feel like I matter & this is the forum for that. I can ask questions in the others if I have any but for the most part, this is home for me & I don't want to "roam" the boards.
