Now I know

If you read the post titled "Attn: Steve & Doug" you will see Steve's answer to this "problem" but more specifically the people (person) that this matters most to - your's truly. May I quote him here?
Can I be brutally honest?
If a new visitor to F150online is unwilling to use our forums because post counts are not counted in the General Discussion section, then that visitor is probably not of the maturity level of the kind of people we want associated with this site.

As I replied there, I guess I have my answer now.

CL, I've been following the problems of this new message board software, albeit not in great detail, but the changes that are going on are temporary.

I don't want to put any words in Steve's mouth, but I get the feeling that once the software glitch is fixed and the server load problems are dealt with, things will go back to normal.

Personally, I don't care about the count. The only time it makes a difference to me is to help identify a troller. They usually have very low post counts when they start going off on us. Other than that, I consider us all to be equal in spite of our post counts.

Fact is, I'm embarrassed by my relatively high post count.

BTW, I think Steve made it pretty clear that he wasn't including you as evidenced by his use of the term, "new visitor." If he wanted to include you, he would have used a more general term.

my turn my turn

i myself am not to worried about post counts, but i think CL has somewhat of a valid point. why make posts only in this section not count? why not make all posts not count? was it fear of losing members from other sections such as lightning?
i also agree with her on asking questions in other sections unless you already "know" those who post there regularly they many times won't answer. i recently asked a question in v6 section and was not answered after 4 days.

anyways hope you stick around CL, it's always fun to "talk" with ya.

oh and btw: won't need the v6 section anymore because i pick up my new '02 4x4 sc tonight with a 5.4. yippppeeeeee.
