Please, just in general when when it comes to cars in other countries vs US we get seriously jacked, short sticked, etc.
I find this to be true also. Does anyone know why? I guess the rest of the world thinks we are ignorant and will be happy paying more for less, so they sell it to us.

reason i heard

I've been told that one reason many vehicles with different engines are not imported into the US is the fact that they do not meet EPA regulations for pollution control. In many countries the government dictates how much pollution a car can make but they do not care how the vehicle manufacturer gets the job done. In the United States the EPA only allows certain technologies to be used to reduce pollutants.

The EPA likes the catilytic converter so they require it on new cars. Even though the company that origanialy made the converter said that they were crap and would have to be replaced every 6 to 9 months to maintain a decent level of pollution control. There are several nice all wheel drive cars in europe and asia that get good gas milage while running hard and fast but they do not meet the the EPA's rules. Thus the manufacturer can not import them, even though they pass other counties rules on pollution control and they even pass the EPA's smog test.

Thats beuracracy for you.
