Not that I'm serious about a Superduty, but if I was I would find the extra $$$ of the Diesel tough to swallow...

Although based on the new 6.0L V8 Powerstroke C-600 in the "tonka" truck , I would have to reconsider that option...

Buying a diesel is a easy decision if you pull anything and as soon as the 350 HP 600 # TQ PSD G II comes out Ill be getting it.

I guess if your maxing out the truck a diesel would be the way to go. But given the diesel option is $6000-8000 Cdn (so I've been told), that buys alot of gas. It's not like the V10 doesn't pull... Never mind the noise factor.
I do hope the next F-150/5.4L gets a HP boost. It's good now, but more is better!

IMHO 300 Hp would be the minimum required to "stay in the hunt." I have also read about @ 325 hp. The new Dodge HEMI is reportedly closer to 350 hp. Given the 5.4L DOHC in the Navigator has 300hp I would be surprised is a the 3 valve heads will make such a big jump? I can see ford waiting to bump the Expedition at the same time as the F-Series, but when the "new" Navigator comes out with no changes (300hp) and the Escalade has what 345hp, I start to think Ford doesn't really care. I know HP is not everything and based on the new Nav's improvments(especially the interior) I would buy a Nav over a Caddie.

I'm with "goneloco". My lease is up in 6/03.

I read some where that the change is going to be in 2003 but I can't find where I read that from.(brain dead) Can anyone confirm the 2004 due date?

I was under the understanding that the "2004" was the model year. IF that's the case then we could see the truck at the dealers as early as January 2003. Remember thats what happened with the all new '97's. They were in dealers showrooms in the first week of January 1996. IF thats what happens again then the truck will be out @ 6 months before your lease is up. Hard to beleive, but today is Feb 2002! 2003 is 11 months away.
If I'm wrong and the truck is a "2005" to be released in 2004 then your going to have to find somthing to drive for +6 months as we'll be 1 yr & 11 months away at the earliest.
Most of the info I read is conflicting. Some places have said it would be introduced "in 2004". In that case we have some waiting to do. I read in the new Motor trend "Truck trends that the next Superduty is due out in @ 2005 so in that case I would expect the F-150 to be out 1-2 years sooner like they were last time.
F-150...........Jan '96
Superduty...Spring '98

As I understand it, the new F-150 will take cues from the SuperDuty. I don't think it will be the Tonka Truck. Imagine the current version with more edges.

FOUND IT.
It was @ www.pickuptruck.com. Click on forums then ford trucks. Scroll down to, "F series new look??". Postmaster wrote,
2003 Is the restyle of the F-150. Supposedly it shares the same design as the 03 Expedition. I've seen "dealer only" photos, and it has the same look as the Expedition that redriderbob showed. The only differences that I noticed where the bumper and grille.
The Superduty series is supposed to get a update for 2005.

Unhappy

I checked out the other forum and didn't really find anything new over there. they are speculating just as we are. We have conflicting info on this forum as "someone's" dealer has reportedly seen a picture of the next F-150 and it looked more like the Superduty vs the Expy. Based on the 1 second flash I saw in Detroit (1st post @ this topic) I tend to agree. I like the look of the new expy but I hope the truck is somewhat different.

I do agree w/Triton46 in that it will be similar to the current version with more edges, more angular overall.
