first ride on the sled

well it finally happened. it snowed in wis. enough to cover the ground with fluffy stuff. i've been waiting since oct. to try out my new toy. i decided to try snowmobiling this year.
wow, now i understand what all the hoopla was about. this thing is awesome. very fast (vmax 600) and a total blast to ride. so far only drove around the yard but it was good for an hour and a half of excitement. got a couple of jumps out of her, very smooth. much smoother then jumping my 4 wheeler . almost flipped it but managed to hold on so all in all it was a good night. (nobody went to the hosp.)
my son rode with me and when we were done he said he was selling his dirt bike and getting a sled so he could have his own.
can't wait to get some open trail up here. i may come down with a cold or something soon. or at least that's what i'll tell the boss

never had the pleasure....

I wouldn't mind trying it, but my neck of the
woods doesn't exactly see alot of snow.
Have you seen the snowmobile kits for the
atvs? I've seen a banshee that was fitted
with one. Pretty slick. I didn't even get the
chance to put my 450s in the snow this year.
We missed our only shot at the white stuff a
few weeks ago.

we usually get one or two good snows a year in WV so id say a snowmobile would be usless around here!
thats why everyone has ATV's around here!

traded my atv to get the sled. seems i have way too many things to do in the warmer months and nothing to do but hibernate in the winter. so this year decided if i could find something fun to do in the snow that might make the season go faster so i can get back on my bikes and go fishing. we'll see if it works.
oh still have a dirtbike to ride in the summer with the son, so i haven't given up dirt riding entirely.
trapper: nope haven't seen those kits for atv's although i have seen kits to put wheels on snowmobiles.
jimmy: i don't know up until this week i thought you guy's would end up with more snow then us this year.
anyway if you ever get the chance try it. it is a blast. trails opened up today so i will probably do some real miles tonight. yiipppppeeee. never thought i'd be waiting for winter, except of course during deer season.

Sleds are cool! Had a Yamaha SRV back in 89, used to go to Lake George ( NY ) or Old Forge ( NY ) Picture this..... You are nursing a cold frosty one next to a roaring fireplace at this hole in the wall pub in the middle of no where. You look out the window and see the dim lights of the trail groomer slowly moving through the forest, the time is 11pm, just waiting for the groomer to get done busting up ice on the trails. Some guy playing pool says"almost time" and all grunt "yep"... Little kids are being little kids and wives are there too. When it's time, the place emptys out and all go for a beautiful moonlite ride through the peacefull forest. Not much goofing off, it's to dangerous at night, cold too!
Of course, the next day you're out on the lakes drag racing at 100+ mph. Back then the fastest sleds ruled the lakes, while
the rest of us rode the mountains...check it out. Very much a family thing.
