Question Real or Fake?????

Real or fake christmas tree? What did you think I was talking about LOL. I like Fake one. I am a nature lover I could not cut one down just to burn out side when done. But I like the smell off a live one. Merry Christmas everyone.

Rob.

Real.

It just doesn't "feel" right if it is not real.

I like real, but sometimes, I put up one of those really chintzy aluminum ones. You know the kind from the 60's with the color wheel light? My mother bought it way back when, most likely it was on sale. Hehehe... It's truly a classic!

Whew!

I wasn't sure if this was safe to read or not! LOL! I have a 6' artificial tree - with a cat I don't need him trying to climb it looking for a bird!
But, now & then I too want a real one & like nascar I can't see cutting 1 down so - I go to the live tree lot & look for a "Charlie Brown" kind of tree - you know - 1 that's so sad looking they're practically willing to PAY you to take it. I don't ask for a discount - I just want the tree nobody else wants & that will be left over on Christams Eve. By the time I finish putting garland & lights on it DOES look as beautiful as a "perfect" tree & I swear - it must FEEL proud because it was wanted! I did that 1 year w/a tree that didn't have an entire side! Stood it up against the wall & it fit perfectly - better than if it were full all the way around!
What I can't figure out is - why cut down imperfect trees that never sell anyhow? Leave the poor things alone & let them live out their evergreen lives in some forest! DUH!

uhhhh people........

I like real ones (but not too big )Seriously though in oregon, you can buy a permit to cut down your tree of choice from the forest or you can buy one from a tree stand(fredmeyers & most other retailers sell them also). The retailers trees are actually grown in Christmas tree farms here.Instead of growing wheat, corn, or whatever these farmers grow christmas trees. So don't feel bad about buying a real one, they were grown just for Christmas time.....You should see Insterstate 5 going south to California this time of year.Lots of trees all bundled up on semi trucks heading down to Cali. Besides, trees are are a renewable resource (ok I admit it I work in a sawmill). If they weren't Oregon would have a pretty barren landscape by now.I think (don't quote me on this) that we(Roseburg Forest Products) plant 5 seedlings for every mature tree cut down.A young forest is actually a lot healthier than old growth. The young trees produce much more oxygen(we need this stuff) than older trees. This is the way I look at it: in nature there are lightning strikes and they ravage the forest killing most of the trees. This is natures version of a clear cut unit. The problem with this is that it takes a long time for seeds to come in and a new forest starts to grow. When man cuts down the trees, he plants new ones to take their place. This gets the new forst growing much quicker than natures way.(Sorry about the rant mode, but I like to spread the truth about forestry, not what the environmentalist groups would have you believe

lightnincrashz,

tell it like it is! I get sick of the Al Gore treehuggers club too. Doing all of what they complain about isn't half as bad as what they do. Like all of those luxury condo developments on barrier islands that fertilize their lush landscaping and lawns. The rainwater runoff washes the fertilizer out in to the Gulf of Mexico to feed Red Tide. Red Tide kills fish by the thousands and makes the beach off limits for weeks at a time. Just so they can look at green grass. they deserve the Red Tide. They can kiss my A$$!

I have a Cypress tree that is about to fall on one of my duplexes. It was blown over and half uprooted from our recent tropical storm. It is about 40 feet tall and the tenants call me almost daily telling me it is leaning over more and more. I called a tree guy to cut it down and he got caught by some environmental Butthead. A neighbor (tree hugger) called and complained when they saw it coming down. The butthead only allowed it to be "topped" to about 20ft. or I would face a $5000 fine. Cypress trees are native to Florida. If you are not familiar with a Cypress tree, you ain't missin' much. The nicest ones are ugly as hell. Now I have a topped Cypress tree that is half uprooted that will probably still fall. If it does fall I can complete it's removal. Only after it destroys part of my roof and a tenant's car I guess. Oh well!

I like real trees. I am thinking about cutting down a baby cypress tree and inviting the envirobutthead to my Christmas party.

I have to agree with you 100% on this as I work in the priniting industry and with out trees we wouldn't have paper in fact one of the paper companys showed us a film on how paper was made and they just use the bark off the trees and the rest of the wood is made into lumber and they plant 4 or 5 trees to every one they cut down.

The question was

real or fake tree for Christmas Jimmy Lee, not what you really wanted

I grew up with fake trees until I moved out on my own. Ever since then I've had a real tree.

Now that brings the next question:

Garland or Tinsel?

Grew up with fake trees. Still beleive in fake trees. Don't like the mess and don't like the fire hazard. That's it. Nothing deeper.

Now the dogs may disagree with the thought of a real tree in the house
