Thumbs up

You may be able to find a better deal on a Dell if you look long enough, but that's a pretty good deal. I would jump on it if it was me.

I just bought a Dell with a corporate discount through my job and with that configuration it would be very close to the same price. I have been happy with mine so far.

Looks pretty good. Take the 19" monitor. Bigger is better. Had my 1 gig Dell about a year. Very happy with it and no problems.

Frankly, Dell support is the main reason I buy their machines (i have three, plus one home-built). If you buy from QVC, make sure it has the same warranty as a machine directly from Dell.

I priced that system for about the same directly from Dell. You might want to check it out.

Go to www.dell.com and customize a 4300s to the same spec.

e-mail me if you need any help getting this configured, Wayne.

Thumbs up DELL!!!!!!!

I have to agree with ASVTFordBoy, I just bought a new Dell with my employee discount. 1.9Ghz 256RAM.....blah blah blah. It is sweet, fast as hell (like it has an Eaton inside) great picture and sound quality. Dell is an all around company, I use em all day at work. Anyway IMHO go with the "Dimension 8200" series. And make sure you buy directly from Dell (web page listed below) the are the cheapest place to buy from. Oh ya, 3 days after I ordered it, it was sitting on my porch when I got home from work.

I say just build your own, or go to a small PC shop.

By the way am I alone in hating the new Dell commercials and that kid Steven?

Look up a place called Recource Concepts in Carrolton TX. I bought my Latitude from them and got a great deal. If you don't see it on their site just call they can get about anything. Maybe www.recourceconcepts.com ?

I couldn't disagree more. Definitely go with a Dell...my first 3 or 4 computer were home built/small pc shop....and I had nothing but problems and when something goes wrong...you have to deal with each manufacturers seperate warrenty. HUGE hassle. My dell, I have had 2 years, not a single prob, and if I did, EVERYTHING is covered by DELL. One number to call...much less hassle. Definitely the way to go.

That said, I don't think I would get through QVC.

Definately go with a Dell. If money is an issue then try the Refurbs.

You should build it yourself...you could get the fastest and best parts including a 21" flat screen, an Anthlon XP 2100, Geforce 3 DDR, and build it for 1800.00 but if you are not comfortable get a pre-assembled computer. I would stay away from dell and compaq ( they are both great computers ) but if you decide to upgrade later you will be limited because it is a proprietary machine. Last I would wait on the new P4's until Intel fixes what they messed up when they made it. If you benchmark an Athlon 800 against a P4 1.4, the athlon will bench higher. Just my 2 cents. I just want to make sure you get what you pay for.

I saw the same ad on QVC . Costco had the same setup , same specs but it was a Sony VAIO . I had to buy it for the kids yesterday . It was $600.00 cheaper . IMHO I think you should keep looking .

I want to thank all of you guys that replied back to me. I went a head and got the Dell from QVC. The warr. is through Dell and is for 4 years. I have 30 days to "try it" and if I don't like it I can send it back. I am not charged for it until after the 30 days. I went with the 19" monitor too. If I do find it cheaper elsewhere, I can just send it back. I don't know if the Sony had all the software this come with but, I really don't need all that I'm getting either! I'd rather have a machine that somebody else has to f*ck with if something does happen, or I would build my own again.
Thanks again everyone!

Good Luck. You got a good deal. Especially if you have 30 days to return it.

Dells are great machines, but i would never buy one just because they're so expensive. Right now, HP has the best deals.

-also, if you know someone who builds comps, get them to do it for you. My friend has a litle business on the side where he builds computers and he can do it for pretty cheap, and it'll be more powerful than anything curently on the marketplace, for cheaper too.
