While I was in Yorktown, VA for training (military), there was a girl in my class that called herself Mustang. She drove a mid '90's Mazda (same as a Ranger) with Mustang written on it and a bunch of pony decals.

Do morons with V6 Mustangs who put Cobra stuff on thier cars count? I saw a guy the other day with a '98 Mustang tricked out. He had the Cobra emblems, the bumpers, a license plate with Cobra's on it, a decal that said 98cobra.com and a few other things. Then I heard him rev up and both me and my wife burst out laughing!

Speaking of V6 Mustangs with Cobra emblems on them there was a guy around here that had a 94 or 5 that put the emblems on it put 2 racing stripes on it and dualed out his exhaust trying to pass it off as a Cobra the funny thing is he kept the stock wheels and tires on it.

I thought that the L emblem on my mid 60s F100 was cool.

Just a matter of time. I knew it.

When I started reading this thread " Ford wannabee's" I knew it would turn into a Pozer bash. I mean putting a Ford clip on a bowtie is pretty bad but you are dragging your fellow Ford owners down now.

So, Lightning emblems on a regular F150... Shovie driver sees it, wants to race....

What do you do?

You race... Shovie driver goes bragging about how he
1) Killed a Lightning..
2) Ran with a Lightning and they aren't *****....

You dont race ... Shovie driver goes bragging about the chicken ***** Lightning... wouldn't even race....

I don't get it... what is cool about it? Would it be cool to put a SuperCrew Tailgate emblem on a regular cab F150 or Supercab F150?

Should have qualified that.

I agree "L" badges on a F-150 just ain't right for the reason's you listed. My truck has PI badges, I wouldn't do the "L" badge though.

Goes back to high school I guess. This dude had a decked out black Chevyvan from Rich's sports world in Austin. It had "SS" emblems which made it read Chevyvan SS. I always though that was cool. It was a cool van.

Hey I can't help it....am I a pozer? I guess so.
Silly? who gives a $h..
I don't.

What I need to do is find some PI's to race. Not a good idea but I wonder who would win?

I don't think I am bashing anyone, I said "I don't get it".... asking for someone to explain what the interest is in misbadging a vehicle. How's that bashing?

And then we could have the badge police. I was talking about the general direction of this thread turning into a Poser Bash.

jryager- What you said about racing is just plain wrong. When someone asks you if you want to race on the street you tell them that you are above this 16 year old age and arent that dumb to be racing on the street. Unless you want to crash. Or you can just tell them that its not a real lightning. When I had my Blown Mustang GT I was asked to race at like every corner by every riceboy I saw. Doesnt mean I did it. And let the moran that asked you to race go and brag about it. Chances are, his friends are just like him. I know that If I was going to race I would take it to the track. There wont be a chance of me getting ticketed. If I got a ticket on the street my insurance would go up by so much!

Sure we should bash. Putting Lightning nomenclature on a 4X4 Offroad is not only wrong, but moronic. It makes Ford drivers look like idiots. It cheapens the Lightning, the 4X4 and the F-150 in general.

You want to be a poseur, be prepared to be called out. Its no different than Type R Toyotas, or Mugen Saturns. Rice is Rice. Poseurs are poseurs.

Appearance mods are different. Nothing wrong with clear corners and tails. But the second you claim to have a Lightning and a real Lighning owner bitch slaps you...

I don't like it when people take the emblems and put them on a vehicle that just can't live up to the badge. If I saw a F150 with Lightening badges, that I know is not a Lightening, but pulls off a high 12/low 13 sec E.T., then I won't talk crap. When I see a V6 Mustang, a car that doesn't even have a chance against my bug, put on Cobra emblems, I think it is retarded. There is a company that puts 5.0 GT engines in Rangers, tricks it out real nice, factory quality, and labels it the "Ranger GT". I don't have a problem with that, because it lives up to the name.

Now when you put on badges from a different manufacturer, I don't like that either. "4x4 Off Road" on a Chevy, "Z71" on a toy.

Then again, that is just my opinion.

That is where I draw the line between Posier, and innovator.

I'm sure everyone agrees that putting Lightning badges on a regular F-150 is ridiculous. That's one type of pozer. I'm the kind of pozer that put a Police Interceptor on his F-150 and proud of it. big difference. I just hope that the local cops don't get as offended as some folks seem to get around here.

What if someone put F-150 badges on a Lightning or just took all badges off to make it a sleeper? Ridiculous to say the least but wouldn't he be a pozer of sorts too? Oh yeh, innovative.

I have the 4X4 stuff on my front end so does that mean I am pozing as a 4X4? Not.

appearance mods dont count. Now if you put 4x4 nomenclature on your 2WD truck you're a loser (not YOU specifically, but YOU as in anyone who does it).

Basic rule of thumb, higher end can dress down, and we will call it subdued. Lower end dressing up is poseur.

Example. $3000 of Hugo Boss suit with no outward labels indicating what it is or how much was paid. But the guy wearing it knows.

Or the guy that wears a T-shirt or sweat shirt that has Hugo Boss or Calvin Klein or whomever on the front of it.... but the tag inside says "Fruit of the Loom"

A Cobra or Lighning can remove its badges and be a sleeper. What counts is under the hood. A base model V6 claiming its a Cobra or Lightning is a wanna be with some kind of self confidence problem.

You bought a V6, be proud of it. Its still a 200 HP vehicle thats still nice to look at and nice to drive. There are guys out there that can barely afford a used Hyundai Pony.
