Calling Gopher...
So did you have any luck getting a deer this past weekend? I would think that it was tough with the warmer weather that we are expirencing at this time....I didn't go hunting for deer this year, but probably going for bear and deer next year. Saw a lot of good signs for bear and deer where we go grouse hunting. Should be interesting.
Got my parents truck washed and waxed this weekend, seeing that it was so nice outside.....Should have been waxing mine instead though, maybe this coming weekend. First time it was washed after 5 hunting trips, and driving down the good old logging roads. Lots of caked on mud and gravel.
As always, nice chatting with you, and good hunting.

I dont hunt but....
Did see ALOT of deer that people were hauling so I am guessing guys are having good luck. Out of the 5 guys who hunt on our land 4 of them got 1 and the 5th guy got 2. And there are a ton running around even in the middle of the day. They are definitely on the move just like they would be if it were cold.

Yep. We did just fine. The DNR made things pretty easy on us this year since all three of us pulled doe permits! I shot a nice doe on Saturday late in the afternoon just before sun down. The dang thing went further than any other deer we've ever hit with a quality shot. I hit it right in the chest, but boy did it run! We tracked it for a ways after dark with flashlights and found a lot of blood, but it dead ended with no sign of where it went. We found it the next morning about 300 feet away from the last blood spot, and never did find anything in between! The area it ran into was full of thick pine trees and brush, so we most likely never would have found it in the dark. In any event, we found it, so I didn't feel bad, especially after I saw I had made a good clean shot.
We also got two other does, one on Sunday, and another on Monday. I came back on Sunday Night, and got mine in to the processor on Monday morning, so no problems with spoilage after dropping 15 pounds of ice in the chest. The other two are fine, but we went through a lot of ice! Too dang warm. Our regular processor was out of space since everyone was bringing theirs in right away, so the other two went to another butcher we don't like as much. Oh well, at least we're getting the good sausage!
The deer were moving though, despite the warm weather and full moon, so no problems there. Just keeping them from spoiling was the biggest challenge!
My truck needs a wash now too, but not as bad as last week with the 6" of snow and slush melting on the backroads. We only have 30 miles of gravel just to get to the cabin, so you can guess what we look like when its wet! Besides, the deer smells on the back of the truck are driving the dog crazy! Another decent year of hunting and venison will soon be in the freezer again

Good Eating..
Well it looks like you are going to have a lot of good eating then with that much Venison. I am sure that it was tough to keep them from spoiling. A lot of people I know that went didn't get any deer, but they saw plenty. Sounds like another good year in deer camp. Maybe next year I will be that lucky.
gopher: congrats on the hunt. i take it minn hunting season is over already then?
here in wis. we've had an early t-zone hunt. doe only, and our regular season doesn't start until nov. 17. hope to see lots of deer out there this year. so far i haven't seen too many.

Depends on where you hunt in the state. I hunt up northeast in Zone 1A by Lake Vermillion. Our season is Nov 3 - Nov 18 this year I believe. Other parts of the state have a hunting season as short as two days. All depends... Since we filled our tags, we're done for the year
Besides, I shudder to think of how cold it could be that last weekend - Brrrr!!!!
