Attention Cslinger
cslinger i used to work with metal. sorry about that. after enough scars and turning my shower into a rainbow colored oil slick every night after work. i decided to go to school and get a different job. i now design circuit boards. pretty boring actually compared to some of the other jobs i've had.
used to work in a small custom metal shop in tampa fla. didn't make a ton of money but it was fun. most stuff we did was pretty mundane but every now and then we'd get a local drag racer to ask for parts for the car. also some friends of mine and i pretty much built 2 pro street chassis for their cars, including a 4-link rear end, very light weight front end components, and even dabbled in making some custom intake manifolds. it was always interresting there.

OK, stupid question time. When I have my picture(s)
put on a cd, are all the pictures on that roll put on
the cd or can I select certain pictures? Could I single
the picture of my gun out from the rest of my pics &
just put them on the cd. Hey, what about this? Let's
say I want to go ahead and try to do a gallery for my truck
and/atvs as well as do the e-mail thing for ya'll. Can't I just
use one roll of film to take pictures of my truck, gun or
whatever. Then have that roll put on cd at Wal-mart.
That way I've got all my pictures on one roll with nothing
wasted (like kiddie pics). How difficult is it to get the pics
of my truck from the cd to the gallery here? I'm
assuming you just pop the cd in the drive and move
them to the gallery somehow? Sorry for all the
questions, see what ya'll have started.
Hey wildchild, we have alot in common. I used to work
as a welder (mig) for an engineering company called
Hunter Engineering. They made diagnostic lifts and
wheel balancers for Ford Motor Company and GMC.
I got tired of coming home every night and blowing
black snot and gunk out of my nose, so I went back
to school and majored in education. No money in it,
but I get summers and Christmas off to hunt and
fish.
Can't beat that with a stick.

trapper sounds like a great job to me. (teaching). yep sounds like we have a lot in common, that's pretty cool. working in the shops was fun but it would be hard to do all your life.
about that cd: i'm not sure about putting just certain pics from a roll on the disc, although i thnk they can do that. i think you can take actual pictures to be scanned onto a disc as well but i am not sure about that at all, would be worth asking about though. once their on the disc you can pick each one separately to place in a gallery.
another option would be to get a scanner. the only drawback is the room they take up. they're not overly large but it does take some space. the cost of them is coming down considerably so price isn't too bad. i think we paid $100 for ours. although i must admit we used it a lot at first now it mostly just sits there except for the occasional scan to send pics to family or friends.

Pics on Disc
Trapper and Wildchild. I know how to turn my computer on and off. The rest is just bumbling around. When someone told me of getting my pics put on a disc I tried it but asked for a floppy not a CD, by mistake or misunderstanding. I feel like a pro now because I can send pics via email. It cost about $12 Cdn. and got a set of prints and the floppy. It comes with software included so when you pop in the disc all 24 pics automatically come up on screen and you open them one at a time to look at them or send them. I'll probably get one for all my pics now whether I plan to send them or not. I assume a CD is the same.
Sorry for the delay......
Work gets in the way sometimes, besides I had written a huge post back yesterday and then it didn't post. //CHARLIE BROWN MODE =ON "ARRRRGGGHHHHHHH" //CHARLIE BROWN MODE = OFF.
Anyway after writing as much to reply to your question as I did yesterdayI came to the conclusion that it would be easier for me to talk you through it over the phone or simply have you mail me your film and I will take care of it for you. Drop me an email and I would be happy to give you a phone number to reach me or an address to mail film to me.
It really is not hard and I have no doubt you can handle it on your own. Computers are like most things you feel a little trepidation before you try something new but once you get into it you figure out that it isn't that bad. That is how I am feeling about refinishing my mauser stock....trepidation.
Anyway let me know if I can help. I would just rather talk you through then type you through.

Sorry I haven't..
posted in a few days. We had a death in the
family. My 3-month old cousin died Sunday.
The only cause found was SIDS. It was the
first and hopefully last time I ever have to go
to an infants funeral. Sad. It's hard to look at
that little casket. No parent should have to go
through that. It makes me realize how lucky I
am with my healthy 6-month old.
Anyway, I'm gonna take the plunge and take a
roll of pics this weekend of the gun and truck.
I haven't even finished the gun yet. Maybe I can
get it finished by this weekend, if not, I'll go ahead
and take a few pics of the first coat. I can send
the e of the finished product a few days later.
Sort of like a work in progress I guess. I could just
wait and send pics of all the different coats at one
time. That's sounds better. Look for them soon.
I'm dedicating this weekend to the gallery and my
email skills. I'll keep you guys posted. I'm just
gonna break down and ask the old wife. That'll be
fun. Thanks for the offer cslinger, but I feel like that
would be too big an inconvenience for you. I really
appreciate the help guys. Thanks!

Our prayers are with you and your family.
As for it being an inconvienance, nahhh. Remember I am a computer/car/gun geek. I can talk about any of the above ad-nauseum. I think your wife will be able to help you out just fine, although if she is anything like my fiance' expect a little ribbing.
Hope the pictures turn out.
Really though if you guys need any computer help just drop me an email. I am usually pretty good at translating technobabble into English. No thanks needed just send beer.

trapper very sorry to hear of your family's loss. going to an infants funeral is never easy.
don't rush with that gun on our account. we want to see it but don't want you to feel rushed.
remember quality is job 1
you know if the wife looks here and sees you've called her the "old wife" you may never get to know how to send pics.

Gentlemen, gentlemen.....
You see what you have to do is make sure you get her some roses, flowers or candy every once in a while out of the blue. Not only is it a nice thing to do for the woman you love but it acts as a sort of pre-emptive, get my but out of this sling, get out of jail free card.
Of course begging and puppy dog eyes do wonders too.

if that doesn't work, well there's always begging.
