new ram
What do you think of the new 2002 Ram truck. The only thing I like is the headlights. I see alot of little cars with clear headlights, I wish the 150's would get that look.

Go to the bottom left and click on truckville and then meet the mayor. All these gimmicks just to sell a truck.

LOL. The new mayor of truckville can only ante up 245 horses. What a joke. The front end is horrible, rest of the truck is ok. I think its safe to say that Dodge will still be in 3rd place in sales. The REAL mayor is pictured below.......
I thought the previous Ram had very unique styling. It's biggest attribute. I think that really upped the ante regarding truck design. This new one looks... well, like a Dodge. Any other Dodge. Its almost like an El Camino with an Intrpid front end (not that there is anything wrong with the LH cars)

Well its not that it makes me sick, what I cant believe is that their first design change in 7 years or so, and it looks only like a few aerodynamic changes to the body. At least Ford, and even Chevy make some major changes when the model change time comes (ex ford 96 to 97, etc)...
One thing with this design is that it might have helped Ford out a little. Now that Dodge has the new body style they also went to IFS suspension up front. You can still get the 1 tons and I think the 3/4 tons in the old style yet with the live axle up front. Well in the near future those will change to match the 1/2 tons and I'm not certain that they'll be keeping the live axle or not. Well if they ditch it Ford will be the only Mfg that offers a solid front axle up front on the SD and there are alot of people who will only buy a truck like that and refuse to go with IFS. I'd much rather drive a new GM HD than drive one of them new Dodges. At least you can stand to look at the GM.
To me it really doesn't look that much worse or that much better. It's just an evolution of a truck I never really paid much attention to to begin with. I saw a gold and silver two-tone one that was pretty nasty looking.
Big mistake
All that money on a styling redesign but with the same inefficient and outdated engine. I've always thought Chrysler was weak in the engineering department, this does nothing to dispell that notion. As outdated as the old Ram was, they should have kept it out there until the 5.7 was ready. They dont seem to realize, new styling and stiffer frame is nice and all but they still dont have a competetive powerplant for their half-ton trucks. And by the time new Rams are rolling off the assembly lines with a new engine the styling will probably be getting old again. So now they've pretty much guarenteed they'll probably always be playing catch-up at any given time, either with body and cosmetics or engines.
Plus, anybody who likes to swap out the stock tires while retaining the stock rims or who just likes more sidewall and less wheel is gonna be turned off because as many F-series owners know, there's really not a wide selection of 17 inch truck tires out there. They should have kept 16's and made 17's an option, and I dont even see any point at all to 20's on a truck. IF I want 20 inch rims they will be aftermarket ones, not Dodge rims.

Who is doing Chrysler's advertising? It is the worst I've ever seen. The music and 'Mayor Of Truckville' will appeal to the segment that can't afford to buy the trucks but, who at Chrysler let that 'Concorde' commercial get on the air and how come it hasn't been yanked? Someone is without a clue.
A one minute joke that takes too long to deliver, isn't funny enough to invest a million dollars on and would have to be explained to the segment that would consider buying a Concorde in the first place.
Chrysler! Dump those idiots and steal the firm that does 'Bud Light' from Amhauser Busch!
