Is it wrong not to like beer??
Is it wrong not to like beer??
awhile back I got hammered at a party, and the hangover was awful...I still like beer, but I hate getting drunk.,since then I have been drunk one other time, and I hated the hangover....now I only drink 1-3 beers, and thats it(of course I dont drive), and all my buddies call my a wuss......
I dont get it, maybe I need to find some new buddies.

Dont listen to them. They are just full of it, I went through high school with only having the occasional beer since I didnt really have any desire to get drunk. The guys razzed me about it but eventually they backed off and respected my decision to not get wasted. Do what you want, not what they think you should do.
Good luck and keep your buddies. They'll come around.

Some people don't like to drink, others do, others yet like to drink way too much.
Some friends are better then others.
I think there is something a little off about someone who truly likes drinking.

"This product is amazing. I was getting so tired of spilling all over myself every time I wanted to drink fast! And yes, I sometimes only want to drink a quick 6 oz. so, the shut off valve is key to my enjoyable drinking. I really liked the fact that the foam from my favorite frosty beverage isn't included while I'm sucking one down. I'm a college student and it’s hard to fit all of my drinking into my busy day. With the Sud Sucker I can drink as much as I want and still have time to get that term paper done."
"Thank you Sud Sucker, for the great sucking"!

Good beer is a fine drink.....I like Belgian, Czech and Polish beer, Cote Du Beaune, and I am particularly fond of Jack Daniels and Old Huckleberry. The last time I got hammered was 27 years ago.
We only need to drink a little too much, and our ability to reason deteriorates. When we have drunk far too much, our control systems shut down. Enjoying a few drinks and knowing when to stop is a very mature quality........tell your friends to grow up.
Regards.

A guy I know or *knew* got killed a few weeks ago because he was playin around with a drunk guy. They were play fighting and having a good time until the other guy got a little PO. He got mad and killed the other guy with a blow to the temple. His name was terrance. The guy who killed him now has manslaughter charges. Both were freshman. Terrance was a freshman at UT. Great guy. Really funny. A shame he is now dead because of alcohol. Supposedly he didn't even drink. The other guy also had been smokin some bud, a bad mix with alcohol.

Hats off to you Semper Fi!
I applaud you for having the brains to know better. I got drunk - really drunk just once in HS - I was sick all nite. Never had a hangover but didn't need 1 to learn my lesson! Even my Dad didn't punish me - he realized I'd taught myself a better lesson than any punishment he could mete out!! Now, I have 3 drinks a year (MAYBE) & on 3 different nites! LOL!
I have lots of friends who drink & they learned they couldn't coerce me into joining them so now they respect my right to say no. I respect you too for knowing how much is enough & for not driving despite the little you may have.
I adopted a simple rule that works for me - if I need a chemical to have a good time I'm either doing something I shouldn't be doing or I am somehwere I shouldn't be at. No drugs or alcohol for me. Call me square but at least I'm an alive one!

As some one who is probably closer to your age than most, I can say that is is very dificult to go around and not drink. Back in HS I ran around with a group that were heavy drinkers. I added my weekly contribution to the "beer pot" and "drank" my share. What no one ever realized is that of the 4 or 5 beers I drank, no alcohol ever went down my throat. I'd pour it all out and refill the can with Coke to fool them. After a few months, I decided it wasn't worth my money to sit and watch them get drunk. I announced that I wasn't drinking anymore and that I wouldn't be adding to the weekly fund. I have always had very strong morals associated with drinking, and I had chosen to stick with them. With in three days, none of them would speak to me. I began having problems with a few of them at school and at clubs, and they did everything they could to get revenge. (BTW maxi pads on a truck WILL remove paint (first hand experience))
I chalked it up and found a few new friends. To this day many of those people still will not speak to me if we are the same vicinity. Besides that of the bunch of maybe 20 people, 3 went to college and 1 of them graduated. The rest are struggling with Kids or 9-5 manual labor minimum wage jobs.
I don't personally have any problems with those that drink, but I do have a problem with the drinkers that think I am stupid for not drinking.
Hang in there and do what you want to do. If they are really good friends, they will respect your decision to drink less, if they can't, they weren't good friends to begin with. Trust me, you will be more satisfied with your self and your decision once you have friends that respect you and your decisions!

I don't trust people who don't respect you for not wanting to get drunk. I had a few friend like that and got quite adept at dumping my drinks. I soon found other friends.
That's not to say that I haven't tied one on. More than once!
BTW, best hangover cure. Force yourself to drink a lot of water when you're done drinking. Hangovers and jetlag are very similar and both are caused by dehydration. Start guzzling water when you wake up the next day too. Alcohol is a diuretic and airplane cabins are very dry. If you can keep yourself hydrated you won't feel so bad, if at all, the next day.

I could never stand the smell of beer, much less the taste. They say it is an acquired taste and I never made the effort to acquire it
I was heckled about it from my friends for awhile (which didn't bother me anyway) and then they got over it. A mixed drink is good every once in awhile, but I can do with or without it. Now if I could just quit smoking

Ahh.... BEER! I enjoy a good light beer but I don't like talkin to the big white phone. (Toilet)
It has been many years since I called Ralph. Thank God for that. If you know your limit there is nothin wrong with a little BUZZ now and then. Just get a DD when you do it if your going out.

when i was young i drank alot of beer. it was ***** to the walls every weekend. only had a hangover maybe 2 times[the water trick does work] but then when i turned around 27 or so i met a woman and she had a small child. anyway we got really close and i decided that i would quit to set a good example for the kid. long story short, its been 10 years since we got married and now have a 6 year old also. never missed drinking, and never really missed the so called friends that quit hanging around. that little kid is now 16 and doesnt party,so it was worth it. stand strong and be your own man. worked for me
