I think BROTHERDAVE said it the best, It is the biggest reason I bought my L. I wanted something that was fast and I could still hail stuff around since I just bought a new house and needed to haul lumber. YES, I actually put stuff in the bed of my L.

I have owned several trucks the one before this was a 97 Lariat 4X4 and I loved it, But when Ford announced the Lightning I told my wife that I just had to have one. Sometimes in the winter I still wish that I had my 4X4....

Well said, Cowlady, I love my truck, but my neighbor has a Lightning, and I love it, too, and if I could afford two F-150's, I'd probably have a Lightning, but it didn't suit my needs when I bought my truck. I will jump on anything on the road, except for another Ford. We all like our trucks, or at least we all used to, I don't think anyone here was forced into buying an F-150, and most of us got exactly what we wanted in our trucks. I know I did, and I have a 4x4 Lariat, but I post in the Lightning forum a heckuvalot, and usually, they don't ignore me or get rude with me. I don't think I've ever started a flame, or if I have I've never read it after my last post, but I don't care if I did, and if everyone else hadn't posted here I wouldn't have either, I just think we should all get along. Lightning guys know a lot about these trucks, and I have learned a lot from them, but I have also learned a lot from people on the boards who don't have a Lightning, and I am sure that there are a buttload of mechanics and very smart people who don't have Lightnings on here. Basically, I love this site, and I think we should all try to get along! Nobody hates Lightnings here, as far as I can tell!
