Lack of power
Hi, a couple of months ago I purchase a K&N Generation II ait filter and a K&N cat back exhaust system. The problem I have is that after using the AC for 15 minutes and driving on the road or highway I tried to step on it to pass a car or truck, the engine doesn't respond! The pedal goes down but the engine feels like it has a dirty injector or bad gas. Even the transmition does not change to passing gear!
I took it to the dealer, they look at it for almost a full day and they told me that they couldn't trouble shooted with the K&N air system. That I should put the stock air system back and returned it for further testing.
After I took the truck from the dealer I drove it for close to five days. I enjoyed every minute since it was working perfectly! I tought that the reset they did to the computer must have helped!
Unfortunately it went back to the same problem and now I must decide to put the old system again or buying a computer programmer for hypertech. I don't know if that will help either.
I see a lot of truck owners use the K&N Generation II system and are very happy with it. What could be wrong?
2000 XLT F150 ExtCab, 5.4L, Harvest Gold, 16 polish wheels.
BTW, I'm looking for the 17" Chrome Lariat Wheels!
Thanks for your help!

I would suggest getting it back as close to factory as you can and have the dealer check it out for codes. Using a programmer or chip may make a problem worse.
Check out the Engines section. You might find more about this particular problem.

Sounds like the dealer is trying to put one over on you. I have had my Gen II fipk for about 25 thousand miles and haven't had a single problem. It also has been to the dealer several times and has had diagnostic tests run on it.
If it makes them feel better for it to look stock while they work on it,then put it back to stock long enough for them to fix it. Did the trouble start right after you installed the intake system? If it did, then maybe there is a loose connection somewhere. Could be a bent pin on the MAF plug,or something as simple as a leak in one of the smaller hoses.,,,Good luck,,,,98
