Ok, who owns a sled here?

Since I am a sledhead, and the only thing that I can
think about 50 times a day even in the middle of summer
is snowmachining in deep powder, I'd like to hear
how many people have a sled here, and what year and model.

I just bought a 97 Yamaha sx 700
Bender Racing clutch kit/helix and 192 gold digger studs.

I like sledding more than my truck
Hope I dont get flammed for that one

Let's see what you got?

Morley

Hi Tweaker,

We ride sleds. Although we're an Arctic Cat family...

We even made it up into Canada last year over in the Sherbrook area. Nice riding, but we went a little late in the season and the snow cover wasn't as good as it could have been. Like you, we've been getting the itch now that the night time temps. have started coming down - although, the lack of moisture this summer has got me worried about having enough snow this season!

I've got the big also. I can't wait for the snow to fall. I go out and start my SRX like twice a week. I have a 99 SRX 700 and my brother has a SRX 600 (surprisingly not that much difference except on the top end). One of my friends dads ordered not one but two of the new SXVipers. He takes delivery this weekend. I'm going with him to pick them up. Then waiting for snow will be especially hard because I can't wait to take a wild ride on one of those suckers.
I'll report back after the test run.

Thumbs up

Tweaker,

I ride.....I and 2 buddies have Arctic Cats, a few ride Ski-doo and the rest ride Polaris, actually one just bought a leftover 2001 Yamaha.....We ride Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. I go as much as I can get away with but sooner or later in the season my wife starts getting P!$$e&. I wish she'd ride but she hates the cold......go figure, living in New England and not liking cold weather. I'm lucky in the way that I have one friend that owns an Inn in Maine another that has a house in NH and one with a house in Vermont. We eat cheap and spend lots on fuel

I hear ya!! here was my Christmas present(from wife) 2000 XC700SP. It came after I sold my last sled (of 4)in Sep 99, I was going to give it up after riding more than 24 yrs. I got the keys in a box that contained pictures of all my old rides, with sayings on them like, "you'll ride again", "but not on anything like this", and so on, at the bottom of the box were keys and a cover.

Now I'm back, 100%, it's already been apart and had all the go fast goodies added............."THINK SNOW"!!!!!

old rides
69&70 little skippers,(2 uncles worked at the factory here in town)
71 Skiroule 440 CCW
72 T-N-T Ski-Doo
74 2 cats
78 Artic Jag
88 Polaris Sprint 340 fan
87 400indy
88 650 indy
89 Indy trail (so I could run a fan class)
88 650 Wildcat (boat anchor)

Screwloose,
Where in Maine do you ride? Have you even gone in the Otis/Bear MT area of Mass? I sometime will go there, if I don't have time to trailer them north.

Stang,
I have not riden in Mass for years. A buddy owns a place in China, Maine up near Augusta, nice place to ride. Last year was the first time I've been up that way, we mainly ride Topsham/Orange, Vermont and sometimes Conway, NH. I don't have time to trailer them north either but.....you know........all work and no play.........makes Stang a dull boy......You'd fit right in up here....A couple of my friends....one in particular..Are Die Hard Polaris Heads.......he had that exact sled last year...plus the red leather jacket and helmet.......ok, ok, he looked good, but we still $h!t all over him......We usually registar our sleds in NH and buy trail passes in VT and ME. If your ever gonna make it up here, let me know, we'll hook up. heres a shot of me testing the suspention.

Talking

WOW - I pray for you boys

Just because you live in snow country, don't really mean you have to LIKE it.

The only snow I like is in my grandkids snowcones, & the only good ice - is a couple a cubes in the glass

But, to each his own !!

Screw,
I Mainely go......Get it?! In the Skowhegan(1 hour north of Augusta), Bingham, Jackman areas. I have friends in that area. I've also made the trek to Madawaska, thats a 12 hour ride!!, I'm a *****, I'll go to Vermont,(woodford area) Maine, Mass, wherever.

Your friend needs to learn to ride!! or do you only travel on laketop's?? I've got friends, one who has a 01 ZR 800,(very nice ride) and another who has a '00 Thundercat, both have had quite a few years riding while I can hang with the ZR (until he mod's it) on the flats, those boy's just can't catch me in the woods. Have you ever tried a Thundercat???? why anyone would want or need that kind of power is beyond me, it will pull the ski's up and carry them there as long as you hold it to the bar.SICK!!

I have relitives who own a Artic dealership, and they have ZRT800's but I haven't had the chance to try one out.

Here a "suspention test" it failed!! after I missed my landing ramp I landed in a plowed parking lot, blew both front shocks, cracked hood, nosecone, ripped the pop rivets out between the footrests and the tunnel. I won the bet,..... and a trip to the ER , I rode later that day, however I was in some PAIN!! Oh...the bet, was to get the sled at least 20ft in the air. I don't do stupid crap like that anymore, ......well only once last year...lol! 24 years of riding/racing and only hurt 2 times isn't bad!

Stang,

I think we could swap stories all day, your up there alright and I tip my helmet to you.....lol....as far as my picture goes you have to understand, I am built in such a way that the sled is held to earth by more than sheer gravity..........lol......well, Vermont it is, you'll have to come share a weekend.....free lodging of course but you'll have to fight for the food and beer at night........

Will you be going to the Snowmobile expo at the Big"E" grounds in Oct?

I don't think i'll make the Big E this year, I have too much to do around here to take a weekend off right now. The more I get done now the more weekends I have to myself this winter.....lol...but lets ride at least once this winter, Vermont is usually a good take, as long as the snow falls the trails are great.....

Nice sleds guy's...
Have any of you read the notes going around about 4 strokes
lately.?? Goverment wants to regulate that 2 stroke polutions stuff.
Looks like its going to happen pretty darn soon too..
4 stroke makes for a much heavier sled, and loss of
pure tork and HP :-(

Gotta love that 2 stroke smell,
I start my sled once a week, and clean it up..
I'll borrow my buddies digicam and take a couple snaps
to show yall.

Peace!

Mor

As my username shows, I am a Polaris man. My brother and father have newer sleds than mine (2000 800 XCR and 700 XC Anniversary Ed.) Damn fine machines, but mine is soo much lighter. Always trying to ride when the snow files; gives a whole lot more reasons to take a snow day when the traffic is going to be terrible!

96 XLT for me.

jStang: That XC should be able to hold the skis up with the best of the big tripples. My buddy's dad has a 98 XC700 and it will throw up the skis whenever you want it to. Personally I like the 600 XC because it is light and torquey. But as you can see the deal was on a small tripple so that is what I live with, yeha I know it's a hard life but I can only hope that someday amnesty international will come to the plate

Later
