I have a 96 F150, 4.9L inline 6, P/S, P/B, auto trans, 186,400 miles..

I have noticed in the past couple weeks the steering gets really tight at times, sometimes also when I apply the brakes when making a turn- checked the fluid, belt, p/s pump, nothing seems amiss...
what could be causing this?

In a few months I am going to be due for a complete front/rear brake jobs-
shoes/drums and rotors/pads. Could this have something to do with it??
