If I had that kind of coin to throw at a car I'd look at a pristine example of the previous GT instead -- I think that was a much better looking vehicle that stayed truer to the original '60's era vehicles. And the "Lambo" doors are a complete turn-off -- they always scream out "lame, gang-banger show car" to me.......

There is a video on Facebook of the car moving through a hallway, and it idles like a mix between a diesel and a jet engine. Just a blip of throttle and you hear the whistle of the turbos turning with a gurgle of a nice V8-esqe exhaust note.
One of the big challenges involved in designing the new Ford GT was indeed making it "new" without being exactly like the old one or too far removed from the original GT40. If you think about it, that's one hell of a challenge.
Personally, I think the Designers did a nice job on the new car. You can definitely see design cues from the original, but the new car is most definitely new, different and up to date. I like it!
If you want to see a design that's become a slave to it's past, just look at any model of the (BMW) Mini. I don't know about you, but they all look exactly the same to me. The same could be said of the (late) Hummer models. Boring!

So far Ford has been pretty vague about details, I doubt very much that it'll be lacking in any area of performance.
Odds are most will be sold before they hit the dealership.

I've read somewhere the production numbers will be around 250 per year with a price close to the Lamborghini Aventador ~($400,000). There ain't many of us that will ever be able to own one.
