Coy, the main thing is to make sure whatever you have on hand you feel comfortable shooting. Make sure you are certain with the guns actions to go boom when you pull the trigger. Run several hundred rounds through it with no issues and you most likely will have a keeper. Your new S&W could easily be crap until you prove otherwise. It might shoot one brand better than the other. Remember you and your families life may depend on it. Practice, practice, practice!!!!

But back to the point of hipoints, I always made fun of 'em till I was given one to help lessen an owed debt. Then decided to run black powder through it for fun to see what would happen.


Would I carry it? No, I have nice Kimbers and Colts for that, but it'll run if that is all you can afford. Even handloaded FFFF blackpowder smashed full into a the case.
