Give forward

Hey guys. Long time member here. I recently started school back up and having a hard time affording it w/ my income. After getting discharged from the military, I had to start over fresh. Definitely been a struggle. Im back in school and only receiving so much from government grants and having to pay the rest of school out of pocket, which is very hard. This isn't a sob story so please don't take it that way. I created a Giveforward account to see if anyone out there is willing to help out a fellow ford member follow his passion and dream. Even kind words would mean a lot at this point. Thank you all for taking the time to read this.

Bumping this to the top. With xmas around the corner, I wish I could help but I've got loans as well. I hope some of our other members here can help out.

What are you going to school for? And thanks for your service!

Thanks man I appreciate the kind words. Things are definitely difficult right now. Pretty much stopped everything to dedicate myself to the military and got screwed over. I'm going to school for photography.

Mig, I wish the best of luck for you. Pretty soon you'll be back on top of things. I've been in the same spot. Money is always the worst weight to have sitting on your shoulder.

Good luck with the photography. I know several guys in Tally that would get several hundred a pop just to photograph cars at car meets. They would have NICE cameras and have the light umbrellas and all that and made some awesome shots and I'm sure awesome bank.

Good luck.

Thanks man I really appreciate it. I'm grateful I have my health, but having money issues weighing on your shoulders is super hard to deal with, especially when you have goals and aspirations and need money to get there. I should find a sugar momma LOL.

And yeah, you can make some decent money with photography. Its definitely the route I want to take, but it just takes time to get your name out there.

so what kind of school or degree is required to do photography?

please define descent money.

i can not image that the the school cost vs. money made makes a photography degree a hot item.

why not a business degree with a minor in photography?
or go after webdesign or webmarketing and shoot the website pictures.

I preferably want to be a commercial photographer. I'm not going to get rich, and I realize that, but money doesnt mean as much to me as just doing something I am passionate about. I want to do something I am passionate about, and then the money comes in. In regards to web design or marketing... I would prefer not to sit in an office all day and be in front of a computer, which I have been doing for the last 9 yrs of work. I want to be out in the field and seeing the world and a degree is extremely beneficial. It's just hard with finances the way they are after the whole military experiences. It's hindering things...something I have never had to deal with before. It's crazy how life can just take a 180 in a heartbeat.

The total amount is for photo and business classes, minus what I am getting from gvt grants which is super low, sadly. Working about to be about 650 a year after gvt grants and I have 3 yrs to go. I was banking on the fact that I would get a good amt of gvt grants, but they are giving me practically nothing because of my discharge. I've thought about doing student loans, but thats the last thing I would want to do. I try to live my life debt free. I have 0 credit card debt and I want to continue that way.
