Is Aluminum and Advantage or Disadvantage for F150?

After 7 yrs that I owned my '04 the hood's paint was rough as sandpaper compared to the rest of the vehicle. Maybe paint doesn't adhere to aluminum as well as steel body part's. XKE's and 60's model Cobra's had some paint problem's back then...maybe a polished aluminum F-150 would be nice!!

I suspect the hood paint went bad due to the action of the sun and engine heat, rather than anything to do with aluminum. I've noticed, in the 50+ years that I've owned vehicles, that the paint on hoods is the first to go.

Proper surface prep and primer with a topcoat of Dupont Imron will give aluminum a great paint finish...and with very little need to wax. Same as used in heavy duty truck's...boat's and aircraft for the past 40+ year's.
