Hit a deer...

I was on my way home from the lake late Friday night, towing my boat, when a damn deer decided to run out in front of me. It happened so fast that by the time I got my foot on the brake I had already hit it. The damage to the truck is a bent bumper, a busted fog light, and the brush guard is bent a little. I was expecting a little more damage considering I was doing 55mph when I hit it, but I guess the brush guard did its job.

that is the exact reason I went and put a brush guard on my truck. they sure do their job and protect that front end. I had a bull bar on my old truck and those things are more for looks. it didn't do anything to protect my old truck

Glad you didn't try to swerve to save the deer when you were towing the boat. Truck looks like it made it out alright.

I expected your front end to be MESSSSED up. Guess that brush guard did do its job.

I did too. That brush guard was flimsy to begin with, so I was expecting a lot more damage.

I've never hit one head-on, but a girl I was dating was driving my truck and had a "Jesus take the wheel" moment in which she saw deer on the side of the road, let go of the wheel and screamed until the damn thing ran right into the side of the door. Ended up replacing the driver-side door and ripped a fender flare off my old 2001 Tacoma. Looks like you came out a little better than I did.

I thought about getting one and painting it white like bconnaway did, I just don't think I would like the look of it on my truck. I'm leaning towards a Westin HDX in stainless steel, which is WAY more stout than the Aries that is on my truck now.

About 3 years ago the wife left for work and about 10 mins later she pulled back up, she walked in the house and i said whats wrong, she said i hit a deer, but theres not much damage!!! So i thought ok maybe just a light or something. Walk outside and this is what i saw

2600.00 dollars later the car was fixed. She hit that poor deer so hard it pooped on the fender and bent the wheel

The insurance company quoted $1100 damage plus the price of a new brush guard. The thought of a full bumper replacement is starting to grow on me, and of course I saw three trucks today with bumper replacements that looked pretty good. It just seems like all of the companies making the bumper replacements have horrible reviews, and it will take atleast 8 weeks to get one...

When I hit that deer it sent one of the back legs flying into some guys yard and the deer looked like it had been ran over by a 18 wheeler

Have you thought about Ranch Hand? They are pretty stout grill guards.. My brother in law has one and it has saved his truck more than once. His last accident a lady actually ran almost head on into his left front corner of the truck and that ranch hand held up awesome.. He got the fender, door and bumper fixed and put the old ranch hand back on.

He has the Ranch Hand Legend Series, Here it is on the truck

I like the Ranch Hands, but they don't come in chrome. My dad has a Ranch Hand any my brother has a Westin HDX, and they are pretty much the same design and both are very strong.

Well I got my truck back, and it looks much better than when I took it in! They repainted both fenders, the upper bumper cover, and replaced the bumper and busted fog light. Now I just have to go in Monday to get a check for a new brush guard and get that ordered and installed.
