Buy a 2014 or wait for 2015?

So what would you do ... and why?

If you were in the market for a new truck would you buy a 2014 now with the current incentives or would you wait till the fall and purchase a 2015.

Do you like the looks of one vs the other? Is that part of your decision?

Do you think the MPG will really be better in the 2015 to justify potentially 10,000 in lost incentives?

Tell me what you think!

While I really like the looks of the 2015 models, I think the current truck is a nice looking rig as well with the exception of the "boy cruiser" tail lights. However, Ford doesn't exactly have a stunning track record with first year releases of a new vehicle, which would probably cause me to shun the 2015's just because I don't want to be the Guinea Pig for working all the bugs out of the new design!

I would go with the 2014 5.0.

Hmm that's a great point ddellwo .... I have not really paid much attention to the first year run thing but that was a big point in my mind. Especially with it being such a drastic change.

Blue - I am going with the Ecoboost no doubt =) sorry haha

the 2014 is a proven platform. The 2015 is going to be all new. They are offering pretty good incentives to clear out the 2014's before the 2015's hit the dealers. I would go now..

Get the '15. If you buy a 14 now, a couple months down the road you are going to see all these new 15 models cruising around and probably wish you would've got the new body style. 700lbs lighter should result in better fuel mileage.

I use to worry about first year model vehicles but i don't anymore. after-all that's what warranty is for. So far every ford i have bought has been super reliable. Including this Eb. A few small annoyances here and there but thats any vehicle. So i doubt there is going to be major problems with the new 15 models

I plan on getting a 15 as soon as they hit the dealerships

I agree with Coy, wait. You have the "new truck" itch, and buying a 14 will barely satisfy that because it will be "old" the second the 15s come out. I'd brave the first year problems and get a 15.

For the record, I think the 2015s are ugly, but the 09-14s aren't my cup of tea either, so I'd rather just have whatever is the new body style.

But are you really getting an EB, Chris? No V8 rumble!

I bought a 2014 a month ago- then again I needed a new truck before I move next week.

Regardless, I am content with my choice on the 2014. I'm not a big fan of the look of the 2015 (looks like a Tundra) and although there may not be issues on Ford's end with the truck, I am a tad weary of repair costs etc for the aluminum body.

I get around 24-25mpg Highway in my Ecoboost (I do miss the sound of my old 5.4 and Borla exhaust dearly though)... I do think the 2015 is going to get worlds better, but then again, 10k or so off a new truck would take a while to recoup with those gas savings.

If it is possible for your timeframe, what about waiting for the 2015 to come out, when the dealers will be throwing the 2014's off the lot with incentives and you can test drive both and make a more informed decision?

Best of luck.

I'd wait for the 15's. You'll prob kick yourself when you roll up on one in a few months. Ideally if you can wait until the 16's come out, that'd be even better..

You have a nice truck, what's the rush and why go backwards. Just my .02

For that deal I'd wait or walk away. I picked up my 2011 Platinum for #42,000 before trade in and I placed the order before the EB trucks were even on the lots. It doesn't matter if the Ford is brand new, they have to offer deals because everyone else selling trucks will be. The only really great deal you might find is on a 2014 AFTER the 2015s are on the lot. Then you would be buying the ugly duckling and catch a break for it.

That's what I'm thinking and I'm really not in love with the 15's I think the 14 looks sexy.

It may happen but I got over it fast with my 07 when the 09's came out. I felt it for a little but I have not thought about it since.

For the mileage it would have to be a lot extra to make up thousands of dollars

I know I have the itch haha but by the time I'm ready for the next new one they will have a different one than the 15's =)

I don't really feel like waiting but I certaintly can I don't "need" a new truck I just want one. I fear that the nice 14's I want will not be available though

They can really sound like a diesel with that idol whistle.

I'm ready for new .... the tires really got rid of the ride quality and I bounce around like crazy. I want a four door as well not just a supercab. Thank you for the complement

True statement ...... also the ecoboost is a 1500 extra is is not? I thought the 44 was a pretty darn good deal considering my local dealer can't touch it and was giving me a price of 51 out the door.
