Question Factory Orders.....

I ordered a 2002 a month ago, and although I'm not really expecting to see it any time soon, I was wondering how long the average delivery time has been.
I've had them take as long as 4 months, and my co-worker ordered one that took 6 months (and then refused it because of the lag in time, he had bought a used truck).
If you have bought a "Factory Order" truck, how long was the wait for you.
I'm figguring on driving the '87 F-150 a few more months!!

I haven't even heard if they're building yet, the last I heard is that they were re-tooling for the 02 year. Perhaps someone can expand on that..

Can't answer your question. I would've been able to if the dealer would've let me order one. I was going to get a 2001 reg cab styleside with 4.6 and 5 speed. They said they can't order custom trucks. Said it messes up their inventory or some kind of crap like that. Oh well. their loss.

King James,

That dealer has got to be nuts !
I could understand if you wanted something that was out of production, but to say it messes up his inventory? Yowww, I'd stay away from that one!
I ordered a 2002 F150 Ext. cab, long box, 4.6, 5-speed, and a few extras.
The dealer said 8-10 weeks, but that is the standard answer that they all use. I'm not in a big hurry, as the '87 is running fine. In fact, I hope the 2002 runs as good as this one!

I was actually told 4 to 6 weeks. I placed the order on the last day of October and had it before the end of November, 3 1/2 weeks from the day I ordered it.

I ordered from the fleet salesman, I got EXACTLY what I wanted.

King James. The only thing it messes up is their commission. I was told by a floor salesman I wouldn't get it for 6 months because there was a train strike in the "East." I laughed out loud and he still wouldn't budge from his story.
