NEED Thoughts/Opinions

So recently my mind has been running wild with thoughts of what to do about my vehicle situation. It was a VERY long, expensive winter for me due to the fact my Bronco has been a money pit. I store my F-150 over the winter and use both trucks over the summer. I am also a college student and I only have the opportunity to work in the summer. So before you read more, my question/point behind posting is this: I need opinions on what to do with my vehicle situation...keep both vehicles or buy one truck to drive year round. Read on to understand why my decision is so difficult.

My F-150 is my baby. Plan and simple. I love it like a son (literally - it's bad). It was given to me by my father and has undergone a transformation since it's been in my possession. The sentimental value that I have for this truck is unlike anything else I own. Selling it would be unbelievably difficult for me.

Before: (bone stock)

After:

Now for the Bronco...I bought it last summer for $5000 out the door. Since then, I have had to put about $5000 back into it. So I'm sitting at a total of about $10,000 invested. I like the thing but it's to the point where enough is enough and I'm sick of putting money into it. At the moment it has gone completely gone over by the local Ford dealership and should be good...for now (fingers crossed).

Now if I were to sell both trucks and buy one truck to drive year-round it would be something very similar to these trucks (all are diesels under 60,000 miles):

Another option would be a 4-Door Cummins. I know, it's not a Ford, but I could get a deal on a RAM through work since I work at a Chrysler dealership.

As stated earlier, I need thoughts or opinions on what you personally think I should do AND WHY. Keep in mind things I mentioned earlier when shaping your opinion. I welcome all helpful ideas, suggestions, opinions, etc. Any questions you have that I didn't answer feel free to shoot my way. Thanks for reading and I apologize for such a long post!

I'm not sure what you're asking. IF you're a student and can afford a truck like those that you're showing us (jacked up four door, four wheel drive, Cummins with huge off road wheels and tires) even with selling the others, then you must have money to burn IMO! Those wheels and tires alone cost more than some cheap used cars!

Keep the 150 for summer driving and dump the Bronco and get a cheap, economical beater to drive during the winters, would be my advice. I'm sure you could find somebody that wants something like the Bronco that would be willing to trade in an economy car to you along with some cash.

My transportation during my college years was the city bus service in Fargo, North Dakota. I could not have even fathomed driving the kind of vehicles you own while going to school! Personally, I would say you are way "over vehicled" for your stage of life, and if you were my son I'd tell you to sell them both, by an economical little car for your college days, and save the "boy toys" for when you graduate and start your real working career. If that is not an option, then dump the Bronco and simply drive your truck year around.

Thanks for the input guys! I guess I forgot to mention...a car isn't an option. All I have ever driven is trucks and there is good reason for that. My dad likes the safety aspect of driving something big, as do I. Not only that but 4x4 is a must-have for the area I live in the winter. I understand that I am very well off either way and I am very grateful for that, especially being a college student. However, I am going to school basically for free and have a good paying job for the 4 months of summer. So money wouldn't be much of an issue if I sold both trucks...as long as I don't run into mechanical issues with a new truck. My main problem is, I hate spending so much money on the Bronco in order to keep it in tip top shape - I'd rather spend money on other things. In other words, I feel like spending the amount paid for a vehicle just in repairs is a little ridiculous. Which is why I'm in this position in the first place. I'd like to find a truck about the same age as the Bronco but who says I won't run into the same type of problems with that truck too? As far as driving the F-150 year-round, I have considered it, but if I'm going to keep it I would probably keep driving it strictly in the summer just due to the sentimental value that it has...I couldn't stand to watch it rust out underneath me.

The Bronco should be good to go now. Why get rid of it after you fixed everything. Sounds like you can afford the gas. Drive the wheels off it.

That's kind of what I was thinking too. The dealership just did a full inspection and replaced a number of things: wheel cylinder, brakes, water pump, and got manual hubs put on. I think I just needed someone else to get a second opinion to firm up my thoughts! Thanks!

If my truck had as many miles as yours has, I would be inclined to keep it much longer too! Unfortunately I have 90,000 more miles than yours does.

Being as you have put in money in the Bronco, drive it and kill it. Keep the F150 contained in winter and salt free.

I personally would suggest kick the Bronco, and get an AWD Subaru 5spd to drive in winter. Break the truck requirement thing and enjoy some speed and compact fitment. I have more fun with my Cavalier than my truck at times. So much that I am itching for a Mustang as I miss the speed from my Trans Am WS6.
