It's supposed to have a really rigid frame. He probably misses my old truck a little I suspect.

It does not have a frame in the classic sense - it's a unibody/subframe hybrid. Which if done correctly will certainly be rigid. And fairly light. Hence the car-like appeal.

They are very smooth and it can scoot. And get decent mileage. And can hold some mulch (as long as you don't need the jack at that time ) Really all that more than a few folks actually'think' they need a truck for.

OT - the Canyon is just as ugly as it's sister truck, the Colorado. GM buyers are dumb, though - give it a tough, manly name and they's a come runnin' Just more lipstick on a pig - underneath it's unremarkable, just like it's predecessor (and what a spectacular POS that was).

My dad bought a 2013 Taco with the wimpy I4 and it gets about 22mpg. However, it doesnt have the ***** to move. Toyota hampered that with drum brakes and clutch-driven fans, too.

Supposedly, GM will be building off road versions of the small GMC and Chevy. They vehicles will also have a diesel option in 2016.

The comments made in may places involve "siphoning sales from the full size"

My gut tells me this is exactly what GM is doing. F-Series isn't budging. Ram is making HUGE inroads in all segments. They outsell Ford in class 3-5. Toyota and Nissan take their small share each month.

GM just keeps selling to the die-hards (part of their descent into bankruptcy). This might be their way of bringing new customers into GM trucks, knowing they can't compete in full size like they used to.

GM can see their trucks sales continue to erode over to Ford and Dodge, or they can bring in something that will shore that up.

For GM, it might be a smart move. For Ford and Dodge, not so much.
