Anyone have thoughts what Rental company this is?

I'm not sure who has looked at these, but I did a nationwide search and they are all around the country. I will be looking for a daily driver in 2014 and I had a few things in mind but something caught me eye. If you look on a site like cars.com, you will see a good deal of white 2011-2013 F-150 reg cab long bed XL's ALL with the 5.0 and rwd. They always have 20k or less on them and look to be in nice shape. The carfax shows a rental company out of Phoenix, Az and many are $15-17k. I may ****** one next summer if I have the funds saved by that point for a nice down payment. I think it'd make a perfect dd as I don't want synch or anything like that and still get respectable mpg. With some Harley heads and tails, PTM Chrome package grille, PTM handles/mirror caps and Fx4 20s, I think it'd make a sharp truck. The 8' bed is a bit quirky, but it is very functional and that's what I'd want in a truck like that.

Anyone know how these trucks are and what the deal is? Enterprise or something?

Just about every rental company out there rents pickups, and from what I have seen, mostly Fords. Avis rents them, as does U-save (may not be a national co, but available here). Others may have them. Looking at Enterprise, the list Super Duties, but the 1/2 ton they rent is Dodge. Hertz rents Nissans Frontiers (or similar). You will also find that many say "or similar", which means depending upon location could be any brand.

Yeah good point although these are sold mostly at Ford dealerships. Good point though for sure. Fastnal I thought of at first, but around here, they are Dodge 1500's. I think one would be a perfect truck though. Could even put a nice xlt console in the center since they have the split front seat. I'm so used to crank windows from driving buses at school and the work vehicles there that now I could care less.

Pretty sure those are U-Haul trucks. I believe their corporate offices are in Phoenix.

For low 20s you can get a RCSB 5.0 brand new. The uhual trucks have been rode hard and put up wet.

people that rent those trucks need a truck. So its been used and abused its whole life. Not to mention its been "maintained" by people that barely have a HS diploma.

That is how they jump start removing the stepping after rotating the tires.

Or - what better way to warm up the oil before a change?

They *may* just be checkin' the traction control inop complaint from the previous customer ...

Yeah - I concur with the other fellers - stay away, John. Our local Uhaul trucks are purty beat up. Shiney, though, lol.

10k hard miles isn't gonna kill a truck. I'd still just get a brand new STX for 22k or however much though.

My truck was a rental for the first 6 month of its life, which I was a little wary about. But the previous owner had it for all the time in between rental life and me. It did well on the test drive and when I had it checked out, and it's been fine so far. It's a white 2006 XLT screw with power basics, so I'm not sure what kind of rental it would have been for.

Parents' 2011 Yukon was a rental as well

I thought a Mustang was more what you were looking for? I don't know of it's worth replacing your truck with another one, especially of you'll be keeping your truck.

I was just thinking cost wise, but I see what your saying. I can't find any XL 5.0 rcsb around the country. I don't want synch or that crap if I go that route. Crank windows are fine. The STX and XLT's are hard to find and are 25k.

I'd like the mustang, but the costs aren't gonna come down enough anytime soon. I've been looking.
