Is this a good deal?

My buddy is selling his 2006 Mustang GT Premium. The kbb value is around $11,000-$15,000. I just don't know if the upgrades decreases it's value.

69,000 miles
320 rwhp (dyno)
CAI
Tuner
Headers with full flow master dual exhaust
Lightweight flywheel with stage 2 clutch kit
Upgraded racing style suspension
American racing rims on nittos
Comp Cams Mother Thumper cams installed and dyno tuned (still in possession of stock cams)
Racing buckets with 5 point harnesses
Rear seat removed and delete kit installed

So is it a good deal for $8,000? Idk if those things would increase or decrease the value.

Fer 8 grand? If it's not flogged to death, sure.
You can pay as much or more for a used cruiser or sportbike.

Reinstall the backseat though - that's dumb, lol.

And knock off another $1k due to that craptastic Fartmaster POS exhaust and use the funds to install something worthwhile that actually flows and scavenges well.

What tuner? Better be custom if it's got a CAI and cams. Did you see any dyno charts WITH A/F data?

Needs new tires?

Maintenance history? 4.6 3V - time fer new plugs - be real careful there

The usual inspection stuff recommended ...

good luck - lotsa fun to be had in that car...

If I were in the market, I'd steer clear. All of those "go fast" mods just scream to me that its been beaten to death.

Oh, right - no one would EVER beat a box-stock GT to death

Yes, new plugs and such was installed with the cam and then custom dyno-tuned. Cams were put in less than a year ago and I was the one who brought him to pick it up from the shop. Rims and tires are brand new. All regular maintenance was kept up.

It's basically someone who is very knowledgeable about vehicles who had this. He didn't constantly spin tires or raw dog it, except on occasion. He didn't want to abuse it and break anything. He has never even taken it to the track. I'm confident that it is mechanically sound.

I'm keeping my 02 F15, so it won't be my only vehicle. More so I can have some fun. I'm just wondering if it's worth it at that price.

How has he treated the car? If he's taken care of it, good maintenance history, and the motor has given him no issues, doesn't seem to be too bad in my eyes.

In all honesty though, you may have a little better luck with value help posting on www.svtperformance.com since that's a Mustang specific site.

Well taken care of and no issues. I posted here because I am already a member here and I don't need a specific number, just trying to get a general feel on it.

That would be helpful. Like I said, he doesn't raw hide it often. He just drives it like normal, and takes good care of it. I just don't know if the modifications increase or decrease the value.

Typically, depending on what mods are done, they can hold their value, or slightly increase it when trying to sell to the private market, and other enthusiasts, since they can appreciate the mods. But to a dealer or someone that doesn't car, it hurts the value.

I'll post it and provide a link to the thread here, where you can view the thread without signing up.

How hardcore is the 'upgraded racing style suspension'?

Overly stiff, track oriented suspension would really limit the appeal.

From what you've said so far, it sounds like a good deal to me and a lot of fun for the money, but I'm not knowledgeable about the market for that car.

The seller seems realistic, which is a big plus if you are in the market for a modified vehicle.

Seems to be some skepticism about his power level with those mods...this is from the other board.

It's definitely a stiff, track oriented suspension.

Also, I made a mistake there (it's friday and my brain shut itself down). It was supposed to be 320 RWHP and ~368 (roughly, adjusting for 15% loss) at the crank. Looks like a weekend off from work is well overdue for me...

That goes more in line with what the guys on SVTP are saying power wise.

They seem to think it's a good buy for what it has, well worth the $8k if it hasn't been wrecked or in poor condition, which it doesn't appear to be. Have you checked the NADA value at all?

And do you have any pics?
