Why Are New F150s So Expensive?!
I used to be intimidated by the window sticker prices, but there is always some "sale" going on at some point. Employee pricing, 120 Hour Sale, 0% financing, $1000 off for being a Costco member, loyalty discounts, package discounts......
You'd think that crazy chick from Progressive was running the show!

Had no idea? I will denfently shop around when I'm in the market. Thanks for The reality wake up call
Ford has been putting a boat load of money into their employee pension fund, which is underfunded. They have also been buying out (prepaying) employee pension obligations, so they don't have them hanging over their head down the line.
That takes a lot of jack. If the market will currently bear an extra $5k or so per F150, they are going to take it.

I agree - pricing on the new trucks has become absurd! Glad I purchased my "baby" back in '05 when the "gouge" wasn't on!
Oddly enough, the truck I would want if I bought one today would be an XL work truck, so maybe you can still get deals on those....??? As trucks have become so fancy, I've found myself being drawn to the simple "stripper" models that hearken back to what trucks were in the '60's and '70's.

I really don't have much of a problem with how much these trucks cost new. What I do have a problem with is the super ludicrously insane price of them used! It seems like they don't depreciate at all other than purely by the miles that are put on them OR age, never both. If you're looking at one less than 3 years old with less than 70k on the clock, it's best to buy new in most cases.

Most of the discounts are based on the profit margin of the truck. The cost to build a "poverty spec" XL vs a Platinum is pretty close. The engine, trans, suspension, body parts etc are all the same for all trucks. The only difference is the materials, electronics and trimmings. Considering the XL still requires all the same things just not as nice there really isn't near as much wiggle room on the low rent trucks. I haven't looked since I bought my last truck but then a X Plan would get you grand or two off an XL and around 10 grand off a KR or Platinum. My 2005 KR and my 2011 Platinum both stickered over $50k but after X Plan, discounts, haggling and me being an *** were sold for around $40k before trade in.

For sure the Globemaster 2 is waaay more manly than my cushy Globemaster 3.

Back on topic ... I've found that, the longer you stay in school, the 'cheaper' stuff becomes, lol
