It's kinda funny. I know people eat them and I have no problem eating them myself, but, they ARE rodents.

I guess it's all in the appearance of things.

About a year ago a hawk came out of nowhere and got a squirrel in a tree in my front yard. He flew to a neighbors tree and ate it. Thought that was kinda random and interesting.

Appearance to me pretty much comes down to whether that "rodent" has a bushy tail or a skinny tail. The bushy tailed rodent goes in the frying pan, the skinny tailed in the trash can. You have taught me something new Jack. I think the funniest "rodent" (squirrel) You Tube I've ever seen was the guy that rigged up the "pan sling shot" on his front porch. That squirrel took an E-ticket ride he'll still be telling his great grand kids (IF he escapes the fryin' pan)

That's alright lol. It was an interesting read, - in fact, almost all of it was. However, without going into it, some of you are a little disturbed, -imo of course lol. Always know what's for dinner, - at the very least, you should be that picky lol.
After posting this, I was curious who was going to mention terminal velocity first. Since most of us that endured a little schooling, -basic physics were implemented and something that is rather useful throughout the years. But NOPE! The shock that it survived took presidency over reasoning lol.

BTW, -I think Bluejay is the only Joe I know;- that has been targeted by the flying form of the species. What rhymes with species ?

I'm pretty sure they just go die somewhere else the initial fall did not kill them but kind of like a deer that gets hit by your car and runs off than dies from internal bleeding.

It has to screw up your internal organs sudden stops like that rip things inside you

I remember reading years ago an article about cats being able to right themselves and land from tall heights without major injury. The theory was that the cats were able to relax the muscles and prepare for impact. I have no idea if that is correct but squirrels might be able to do the same.

Also on the once in a lifetime thing...........we were over in Arkansas on the White River jsut a few days ago over Memorial Day.

We were driving along the road near the water and the Bull Shoals dam when right in front of my truck about 30 feet in front of us and 30-40 feet above the highway a Bald Eagle flew over with a fish in it's talons!

One of the coolest things I have ever seen!

Your probably right, a somewhat successful landing won't make such a thud.

Wish I was a little closer, I would of tried to save the little guy. Well, I may have stuck my foot out anyway.. Broken the the fall a bit..

That is cool, never seen that before. I bet it was no small fish either. Salmon I expect. Eagles are much larger than one may think. They also like chickens.

You are right it was a good size fish. No salmon in Arkansas as far as I know. Pretty sure it was a Bass.
