first let me state that i am looking for advice from those that have experience with both cell phone operating systems.

i have thought for a while that i want an iPhone because of the stability of most Apple products. i use an iMac at work and love it. not had the same issues as i have had with a pc. but my mom and dad both just got new iphones last week and they are completely technology illiterate. so when they need something done i am the one to do it for them. my mom wanted a couple of songs transferred over to her iphone and set as a ring tone. on an Android system it is really easy to save attachments from email, transfer songs, pics and videos and to set a song as a ringtone. i can usually figure most anything out on these types of situations but on friday i found myself struggling and never did get her ringtone set. i did a quick search and found that you have to go into itunes to setup the ringtone and takes several steps to get it to work. it just seems the iOS is not as userfriendly as the Android sysyem.

does anyone have any experience with this or can share the same frustrations? im up for an upgrade now but dont know what phone i want. i have had 2 htc and hated both of them with the same issues on both. but they are very easy to use. need some feedback.

i am just used to plugging in my phone via usb and copying all my pics and videos that way. i like that you can sync iTunes and get your music anywhere. just a little harder to get some customization done.

Customization has never been big on the iPhone unless you jailbreak them. For customization droids have been better, but that's about it. I currently use both phones a HTC for work and a iPhone 5 for personal. With the issues that droids have I'm more then willing to deal with iPhones picky customization stuff.

 

I'm on my second Android powered device. Its the Samsung Galaxy nexus. Its flawless. My HTC Eris I had before was one of the first Android phones and the difference is incredible. Like anything, occasional lag but overall no issues.

Apple is good at making their products do what's advertised. They spell it out and that's what you get. Droids give you more options and I like not being locked into iTunes. I rooted my last phone... with this one there's just no need. Truly satisfied and would not even upgrade if I was eligible. Does everything I need. Your experience is going to be based off which phone you buy. I'm sticking with Samsung from here on out. There's a reason why some many of their components are used in their own competition's products.

My wife has a I phone and I have a Droid Razor max. I'm not big on messing with the software, really but I like the way the I phone operates better.

 

My wife just got a Galaxy Note 2 a few weeks ago. It's bigger than the regular phones. She loves it and I have to say the thing is pretty impressive.

 

Apple iOS operating system is a lot more stable and operates more smoothly than android.

I have had 2 androids and they sucked. Ran like crap, froze, restarted. Very irritating.

iPhone 5 now, and have never been happier. That being said, I'm not into customizing that much, so iPhone suits me well. However, I hate iTunes.

 

I don't like the iPhone at all lot of my friends have it. I also have had the touch for a long time and I was like no way in hell am I using this thing as a phone!

The droid (I have a Razr and just convicned the GF to get a SIII over the i 5) is much more user friendly. I also like that there is buttons on the bottom of androids that allow you to go back and go to home and settings list etc. do you realize how annoying it gets when there is only that one button on the bottom of the iPhone and the rest is touch! For that very reason alone I would get the droid's ..... the maps are better the text layout is better the lock screen shortucts are better the list goes on!

Now you know my opinion haha but overall I can't wait to go back to a dumb phone fu*k 30 dollars a month for data it's not worth it!

 

Let me throw out another option besides the big two. I have played with iOS and Android and had issues with both. iOS is too locked down for my tastes and Android has security issues plus I really don't like the idea of giving google free reign to data mine my phone. I would suggest giving Windows Phone 8 a test drive. It is stable like iOS, you can drag and drop via USB from any computer but have some of the freedom that Android has. The Nokia Lumia series has top shelf specs for low rent prices. The Nokia mapping is really good and the tie in to Microsoft services is spot on. To me it is the best of both worlds, it has stability and you aren't locked into iTunes.

 

Cant help at all here...just reading the thread. I still have a flip phone and wouldn't know what to do with a smart-phone, regardless of brand or OS. I'm afraid that my next phone will have to be a smart-phone, since the simple phones are just about history, or at least very limited in choices. Not looking forward to making that decision! For simplicity reasons it'll likely be a I-Phone, i would guess.

 

My vote goes to Apple, they are #1 and Windows is trying to copy them for a reason.

 

Technically apple is king of copying/using other people's work then copyrighting it with their name on it. But as for the op's question I prefer my iphone over my droid. So much more stable, my droid after a few days would run really slow and either have to be restarted or it would freeze and restart itself, got annoying after a while haha. Used it for about a month then switched over to the iphone, no more annoying resets or freezing. The only reason I really liked the droid over the iphone was the fact that it was open source software, basically meaning it was free for me to write and test apps for it for my classes, so I keep it around with no service on it for that reason haha.

 

Android is nothing but a copy of Java code.
