Talking 19 payments later and paid in full!!!

I cant believe that i done it but it's definitely a record for me. Picked up my new truck in June 2011 and today I am making a final lump sum to pay it off. 19 total payments......I'm stunned that i accomplished that but i had to sacrifice some to do it. Now breath for a few months and get the wife a new one.

Let this be encouragement to others that you can do it too and can do anything you set your mind to.

What a relief!

Congrats! It's a great feeling, isn't it? Both my truck and wife's car are paid off. Being in debt is for suckers! :-)

Cool

Yea Daddy! Way to go!! When I ordered mine I was originally gonna do a cash deal. But at the time Ford was offering like an additional 1,000-1,500 off with Ford financing. Plus I wanted to make a few payments to improve my credit score. At the time it was like 690 I think? So I ended up financing about 11,500.00 for 60 months, made payments about 230.00/mn.. I originally was gonna make payments for about a year then pay it off. But I couldn't take it. So after six months I paid it off. Once you do get your pay off letter, make sure you call your insurance company and advise them that you no longer have a lean on the title. I notified my insurance company right away. Got my new bill for the next six months and it still list Ford Credit as the laen holder. Guess I'll be making another phone call...........

Yes, I just thought of this today. Never crossed my mind until a couple of hours ago to do that. I also financed through Ford Credit for 3 months because I got another $1,000.00 off. Once I made 3 payments, switched to a Credit Union for a much lesser rate and kept pounding down the debt and any extra money I got, it went to it.

Feels great. I have paid off every vehicle i have had except the Tundra I had before this truck. I sold it to a friend and had a little equity in it as well.

Paid my truck off last year with part of my 401 when I retired...didn't need a truck note. Bought MawMaw a new one for our 43rd anniversary last November so this may be my last truck. Great to have the title too!

I paid my '06 off 1 year before it was due. I was a Happy camper then my wife told me I needed to get a new one. So, now I have a new note again. But, hopefully after I finish my finally trip to Canada, I get my Degree and all things will change.

Right, the vehicle thing is just a first step of sorts. As time goes on, you can manipulate property and housing the same way, -with a good plan. It's something you have to do and teach to your children. Building a secure base. A little self discipline can go along way vs the latter.

The OP had a good plan. Now he can make payments to himself, under the mattress sort of speak. A mattress with interest.

19 payments?? Wow! I have 4 more payments on my '08 but after my last experience with Ford Credit I think I'm going to send them the entire payoff amount and be done with them for good.

Just this past Monday I called and spoke with Ford Credit customer service and after about 5 minutes of questions about my account, interest paid, rates... I guess the guy got fed up with me and said, and I quote, "That's why you're late and can't afford your truck anyway." At first I was like whatever so just said "Oh okay thank you have a good day then" then hung up but then I thought about it afterwards and thought wait a minute don't my payments go to pay for this guy's salary? LOL Why would he say that when I'm not even delinquent. So I called again later and asked for his name and the person who answered said "We don't give out names, is there anything else I can do for you?" then hung up. And that's when I realized that Ford Credit neither need nor do they want my business so I'll just pay it off and be done with it.

In a way it's good that this happened, no more payments after March.

I never had to deal with Ford Credit personally, i just had to Credit Union call for payoff and they did the rest. It dont sound like very good customer service to me. Hate you had to deal with that but look at it this way.....you're almost done!

Right, I'll never use Banks again. They are a PITA. Credit Unions are whole different ball game. They're really geared to help and assist vs the other institutions. I've never used Ford Credit either, sounds like they need improvement as well lol.
