We have a 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser at our dealership (Lexus) getting some work done and we were looking at the glass thinking what would make it through?(Yes, its an armoured car) A Barret 50. Cal. lol no problem lol. I'm talking something in the 30-06 range to 338 Win Mag. I said the 300 WSM (Winchester Short Mag) should either pierce it or blow through.

What do you think? Ballistic guys heres the question of the day!

Depends on the round. I would bet a 30-06 AP round would definitely make it through. Also it would depend upon the glass itself. Some is made to resist up through 9mm and others more powerful rounds.

 

My 50 caliber would.....

 

I worked for 15 years making bullet proof glass and we use Alon 1" thick and when tested at fort George with a .50 cal it spider-ed the glass but did not penetrate through. We make missile domes of the same stuff and are now filling orders for the new Bradley windows. 1/2 the weight and double the stopping power. (by the way the .50 cal was a amour pericing round)

My 7mm mag shooting a 150gr Nosler Bolistic tip will go though a 1" grade 50 plate at 100 yards. And I'm not lying!!!

heck my 7mm wsm didnt hsve an issue with the tree backing my target... about a 4-6 inch tree. lol.

 

Like it was stated earlier, depends on what type of bullet 'proof' glass. But a 30-06 or even a .50 won't penetrate the presidential limousine's glass.

I have a 300wsm and I belive if it somehow wouldnt make it threw, just keep shooting until it does lol
