Aww sad day, Texas icon, and fellow tall guy caught on fire at the State Fair of Texas today

I know they deep fry everything at a State Fair, but this is getting ridiculous......

My mom took the first pic, she was down there, she said the fire started at the neck, probably electrical fire where the motorized jaw is housed.

I thought that at first. I was wondering how safe is it to be burning something so close to the public and structures....

nice smoke output, but must be a bummer for folks who grew up looking at it.

Maybe next year he'll be replaced by "Big Mex" to reflect the growing Hispanic population in the State of Texas.......

Betcha he was flamin a great big doobie!!!!

He probably didn't have time to remove the seeds and this is the result of a 'seed pop'.

Why do you think they call it dope!!!!

Wonder if they found any charred illegal immigrent remains?

He could have been a 'Trojan House' and the occupants were bendin up some taco's.

I heard NPR report that he will be rebuilt before next year. From what I've heard, he was an important feature of the State Fair.

Sometimes, you just need things that are "fun", even if they aren't too practical.
