Congrats! I'm sure you'll love the mpg. Funny, I've been looking for a new car lately (keeping the truck for work) and was just looking at the new TDIs and GLI jettas today on AutoTrader.

Not bad. My bosses Son has one. Says he gets 45+ but only has like 90hp stock. I think he has some mods done though.

Nice MkIV, what trim level it is? If you don't mind me asking how much did you give for it? I was looking at those for a while but around here they were going for stupid money so I ended up getting a 2.slow instead. I gets mid 30s with my lead foot so no complaints there. With a little bit of maintenance those will last forever! I have seen many pictures with 400,000 and 500,000 miles on them and they still run great.

Its a GLS with 184k on the clock. I bought it from the original owner for only $4k. It does have some imperfections but nothing that really bothers me.

That's a steal!!! The best I could find was 250,000 miles or way more and $7,500+ on the TDIs.

haha i know! I wasnt even really looking for this particular car, i just happened to find it on CL one day and bought it

its actually just a little under NADA value so it wasnt that great of a deal, its just that people want alot for these TDI's i guess.

That is a heck of a deal. We have been looking at VWs for my 16 yr old, and for anything decent, not even TDI, we have been seeing around 5 to 6K.

That's the case around here too unless you want a New Beetle. Those can be had for $3500 all day long. I looked in a pretty wide area for a while before I found mine for $4000. They are solid cars, different than American cars for sure but they do last.

OP:
What mods do you have planned? So far I've only added a roof rack to mine. But I'm thinking about trying to fit a set of old FX4 wheels to it. I've seen all sorts of wheels on VWs but never ones from a Ford truck. I have them in the garage just sitting there.

Congrats! First car I've ever had is my civic I bought last year. It's a 40 mpg go-cart. Great not having to run my truck all the time.

Can't wait to see the mods!
