Advice Please?!

Hi All,

Newb here, tonight I was pulling a trailer up a hill in my '04 5.4 Flareside and I heard a loud pop, at first I thought it was something to do with the 4x4 system due to the fact I had recently engaged 4wheel High. I didn't go much further, stop shut off the truck and loaded the trailer. After a short time, I hopped back into the truck and attempted to start it, (this is where it gets iffy) it turned over fine but did not want to start. I tried again and it fired right up, I did notice my C.E.L on and thought it was funny. Drove a mile up the road to my home and shut off the truck. After pondering the situation I came to the conclusion that I just spit a COP. Without reading the code I know there's not much I can do to resolve the situation.

This may be a stupid question, but here it is, if it is a blown COP/misfiring cylinder would any of you be willing to take a 500 mile round trip in my truck this weekend? I think I already know most of your replies, but please tell me I'm wrong. I need to keep the woman happy! Thanks in advance.

A trip won't hurt anything. I'd have the code pulled at the parts store just to see what it is. Don't clear it, just leave it on till you fix it.

That's rare on a 3 valve 5.4.

"maybe a plug blew out."
Have you ever heard of it on a 3V that could keep a straight face when they said it?

The plug problem spitting problem was fixed by the 03 F-150s. The 3V 5.4s have the exact opposite problem, the plugs can seize in the head. I really doubt this is your problem. Get the code pulled, this will start pointing you in the right direction.

- NOPE! Not from one sole that new just a little about these engines.

As for the OP, -I've never heard of a COP blowing period. Regardless, I know what he meant.

Someone or something must have put that fear into him. Could have been the search bar by god, and his words "loud pop". That alone is a recipe for derailment right there lol.
