Unhappy Just had a really sick feeling...

I park at the end of the lot at work to minimize door dings. This weekend they are having speedboat races and the participants are showing up. I happened to step outside and was watching a Winnabaggo pulling a speedboat go to the end of lot and turn. I was thinking, that guys handling the rig pretty good in this tight area. Just as the trailer was clearing my truck, I saw the truck rock back and forth. That's were the really sick feeling comes in...

You never know what you're going to find, when I reached the truck I found his taillight cover and some white paint on my wheelwell cover. The guy was parking and I walked over to see how big a boy would get out so I would know whether to say, "HEY YOU!" or "excuse me, sir..."

It was a wash, he was my size and it was hot out so I just said, "You hit my truck".

Lucky me, he was from Quebec, owned a bodyshop and had his stuff with him. He fixed me up in 10 minutes, no damage. I gave him back his taillight cover and wished him luck in the races.

I couldn't have keyed his Winnabaggo, it had aluminum siding, nor the boat, it was gelcoat fiberglass. I did the only thing I could do, I ogled his wife.

Until he said, " It's two inches of paint and it's gone! Enough with the ogling already!"

Question What kind of Races?

I am in your area. What/where are these races? York river area?
Any idea what kind of boat it was? I keep up with boat racing but have not heard of anything going on this weekend locally.

I do most of my boating on the Rappahanock on the Northern Neck side.

Glad to hear your truck came out ok. What did the wife look like?

Thumbs up

All the details are here:

http://hamptoncupregatta.org/

11 classes, speeds up to 150mph, (not to mention the 70 foot rooster tails) antique boats on display.

If you are into boat racing, this is for you.

(The wife looked good enough to get me slapped)

I think all I did was ogled my way out of getting a pit pass

Oh, the boat that hit me was a National Modified 2.5L Stock named 'Metivier Racing', #43 out of Valleyfield Quebec.

He should do well, two days before the race and he's already tradin' paint.

I know the fellow with the trailer doesn't fall into this group but there is a rash of drivers out there that could care less about their own vehicle let alone our beautiful trucks and it scares the heck outta me

Whenever I have to park where there are other cars such as a crowded lot I always look back and wonder how my truck will look when I see it again. I get this uneasy feeling beause last summer I was at a park with my girlfriend and her dog and when we came back I noticed a 3 foot scratch above the rear wheel well that went all the way to bare metal. I looked down and could see tire tracks headed right for my truck because whomever was parked next to me went though a puddle just before contacting my truck.

I hope no one has noticed this but now when I'm forced to park next to anyone since that day I either pick a flawless car/truck to park next to or jot down the licence # and color of the cars I'm next to so I won't feel powerless if I come back to a damaged truck.

Talking

I like your style, it is much like mine. Sorry to hear about your truck, glad it turned out well. You should have asked him, "Can I take a few pictures of your wife...for later on."
