I'm done

As of yesterday i am done with dialysis, after being stuck 7 times in one treatment 3 days in a row i am so done. I told them i won't be coming back and i play the cards i have. to many pills, needles and nurses that seem to hide when i show up so they don;t have to their jobs. Also every weekend there is a party i am so out of place and seem to be a bother to everyone they also try to stay away so being an outcast and a dialysis patient is no way to live, i wish this on no one, they say well you don't look sick here have shot or get over it and get involved... there is me and then everyone else drunk, talk about feeling leftout... no thanks

Thanks to you all here i have had many many years of good times here, thanks
Jim

Hey man there is there an option to transfer to another center. My wife is an assistant site manager at a dialysis and they get people who transfer from one unit to theis and say they cant believe how much better the unit she works at is over the one they were at before. Her center is a not for profit center so not sure if that why the care is better or if its the personal at the center. I know its a tough choice to stop dialysis but would hate for you to not look to see if there are other centers that might be able to help.

Bucky, be absolutely sure you want to checkout before you do. There's no going back. I think you still have some good times in store with your grandchild, and I'd not like to see you miss out on those.

Buckdropper, you are bigger than that......

You don't know me from jack squat, however.....My thinking is F them all if all they want to do is get drunk, been there-done that. I will say that I am not a dyalisus patient (heck I can't even spell it). Your life has changed on you in 2 big ways, kidneys and your grandson and you need to wisely choose which one you prefer to controll your life. As far as the drunks at the party, they drink because (in part, my guess) is they don't have something as special as your grandson. My thought is dump the drunks and focus on the little guy, get down and view life from his level. That can be one of the most amazing journeys you will ever have, enjoy it while it is yours for the taking.

I don't presume to think that I have the ability to talk you into or out of anything, ultimatly the choice is yours. I agree with the above poster who suggested going to a different treatment center and see how that goes before making any final decisions, but that's just my opinion.

I cannot even imagine what it is like for you and this process so please don't be insulted. As I said you don't know me from jack squat and I don't really know you, but I have enjoyed reading your stuff on this forum and look foward to seeing more of it.

I will pray for you and your situation and hope that things will change for you for the better.

Hang in there and good luck,
Jim

Buck,

First off I'll say that I find myself to respect anyone's wishes to walk away from treatment as horrible as it is. I stood by my Aunt during her cancer treatment when she decided what time she had left was not worth spending in a gown being poked by strangers 4 times a week and the other 3 days spent recovering and dwelling on the life going on around her. It was a horrible thing to watch.

With that said... looking back I don't regret agreeing with her decision but if I could do it again... I would ask that she stick with it so she could have been around a little longer. Some may call that selfish.... but I would give anything to have seen her just a bit longer.

I would imagine anyone close to you would want the same thing. If you have anything left in you to stick out the battle, you gotta find it and hold it together.

I can imagine it is not easy watching others around you having fun and living normal while you are suffering and not feeling yourself. But behind all that, your still the great person they want to be around and they're still the same people you love for the reasons you do. You just have different priorities than they do at the time. You'll get through it bud. Take NDITECH's advice and see if you can find a different treatment center. Could make the world of difference and is worth a shot.

I'm not encouraging any decision but again I will say, understanding the toll it takes physically and mentally on ones body and mind is something most will never understand.

I say don't give up though... push through it.. take a break... something, anything that might help.

Good luck bud

Hi Buck I don't know you at all but from reading some of your posts, I have developed this notion of you being a strong individual and that giving up is definitely not one of your strongest suit. I wish I had the magic wand to make things better for you but I can't. So please allow me to assist my fellow man in time of need with some words of encouragement.

First, my advice to you is to stand up for yourself an get rid of ALL the toxic that surrounds you.

Secondly, take some of your valuable time to listen to Rand Randy Pausch's last lecture. Pay attention to these valuable and power words:
The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.

And lastly, read this valuable little book, "The message Of The Master", it's free here @ http://pinky.bol.ucla.edu/moonflea/p...f_a_master.pdf I guaranty it will give you back all the strength you need to keep on fighting. Once again, pay close attention to this valuable little words:
I am master of my own destiny and I can make
my life anything that I wish it to be.

Don't give up buddy, remember that.........

"Straight roads never make good drivers,

Smooth sea never makes good sailors,

Clear sky never makes good pilots,

Problem free life never makes a good and strong person.

Have a tough but winning day ahead!

Be strong enough to accept the challenges of life.

Don’t ask life,
“Why ME?”
Instead say,
“Try ME…..!!”

Thanks,

Leonardo

Last time I went with my Mom to her chemo treatment, I noticed one patient who had 5-6 nurses hanging around, constantly.

I walked over to see what the haps was, and this patient always shows up with a big box of doughnuts!!

You've got my sympathy cuz I've been in renal failure before, and it certainly wasn't any fun.

Last kidney stone I pee'd out was 7mm and it's amazing how something that demure, can cause such sickness and pain. That was #10 and counting.

I'm just as cranky in person as I am on the net. If anybody treated me the way you have detailed I'd be writing, talking, and having some "employee butt". Everyone has a supervisor, start there. If that doesn't get results that supervisor has a supervisor. Eventually you will either be treated with the dignity and respect you deserve, or you will be talking to VPs and Ps. Just for the record supervisors hate it when you go over their heads, it tells their boss that their employee isn't doing their job (which is making the workers work). If enough people do this customer service will have no choice but to improve. Right now there are a lot of people who want to work, but can't find jobs. If those who have jobs don't want to work, assist them in not working and getting someone who does want to work. To steal from the Marines, "It is God's place to judge right or wrong. It is ours to arrange the meeting." You can't hire or fire, but you can report substandard service and arrange the firing of incompetent rude employees, and the hiring of motivated people.

Don't give up it's only one step. You can do it.

before i gave in i would look at 3 possible things.

1. find another treatment place.

2. rent a house or apartment that is less than 5 minutes from there, all that driving you are doing is nuts. you live in a house that if you pass, your wife will probalby sale or can't maintain.....move, board it up, take the drive out of the situation.

3. see if you can get admitted to a hospital so that you can relax for a while and your wife can take a breather.

when i am at my whits end, i walk away, clear my head and regroup.

sometimes small changes make all the difference.
