Real comforting....
Back when I was a kid my parents drove early-60's Chevrolets and I remember distinctly that those vehicles were designed to start without a key. If I remember correctly, there was a certain way you could turn the ignition off to determine whether a key was needed or not to restart it, and in our small Midwestern town, I rarely recall a time when mom used a key. Different times, for sure.....

That was a really fun car. Everyone should have at least 1 beater car they can play with in their lifetime!!
My '93 S10 was the same way. I could also unlock the doors using just about anything- knife, screwdriver, coin, etc. Sure was nice not needing keys.
You guys with push pad entry should see if the dealer has set a universal custom code for the salesperson.
Something like all 1's or 0's.
When you program in your new custom code, it erases the old one.

That's ok, trying knowing that most brands of construction and farm equipment use the same key in that brand for example Deere to Deere. I had to borrow a loader from our local Case dealer and all he told me was to take a certain one and just use the key I already had. It's really comforting knowing that someone can drive off with a quarter million dollar piece of equipment any time they want if they get there grubby mitts on keys for Deere, Case IH, CAT, Komatsu.......
