The last true Shelbys were the early 66 cars, with the suspension mods, and other Shelby specific items. Later 66s didn't have the side exhaust, welded in traction bars, and relocated upper control arms. The late 66 and up cars were basically Mustangs with bodywork, although the 428 wasn't available in Mustang until 68. Actually Ford took over production starting in Sept 1967. Shelby actually was involved in some 71/72 cars sold in Europe as Shelby Europa. They also never built any 1970s. The cars marketed as 1970 were reworked 1969s with froont spoilers, and black hood stripes.

They had a few of these at All Ford Nationals. Could have fooled me minus the interior.

The hardtop version looks a lot better. The sides look to tall; if it looked skinnier as far as the heighth of the door panels it would look more authentic.

Yea, the basic 69 fastback looks awesome. The convertible, not so much.

anyone seen the C5 body kits that convert a 5th Gen Vette into an older vette?

All these body kits just seem so weird to me, they just dont flow quite right. look like a retarded step child's play-dough creation.

IMO this is the only way to accomplish this kind of project, do it truly one off build

Both of those are just ugly. I say if you want an old mustang or vette pay the extra money to get a restored one. There is one of those begged where I live and I always thought something looked off about it... Now I know why

I have never cared for that body style of the Shelby's.. (69-70). Have never cared for the convertibles of any year Mustang either...

Now, if they were to make it look like a 69 Boss 429, that would be COOL! Hell, even a 69 Mach 1 is a top choice.. A 67-68 Shelby would be cool looking IMO too...

But, style and personal creativity of cars and trucks vary with each generation... The stuff that goes on now a days with trucks and cars just makes me shake my head and go "what are you thinking??"...

I'm an old fart who grew up with the original Muscle Cars being sold off of dealers lots... So, I'm a bit biased as to what gets my heart thumping when talking about cars and trucks..

Do what you want to your vehicle and if you are happy with it, that's all that matters... Not a bunch of anonymous folks on the internet!

Mitch
