So the owner had not added a custom parts policy to his insurance. Now the insurance company will only pay $1000 sublet charge for any aftermarket parts. The kicker is they are also saying they will not pay for the cost of stock replacement parts in place of the damaged A/M lift parts (spring, shock, sway bar, tires or wheels). I understand the Insurance is not going to pay $500 for a tire but they should at least compensate the customer for the price of the stock part as that is what his policy is covering. Hopefully this was a lesson learned for this customer. You better get that insurance policy updated before you make any major changes to your vehicle.

That sucks, I didn't know you had to do that. But, it makes sense, can't really argue it.

Looks like some fluid leakage from the Rt Front Axle Seal.

Doesnt look to bad but just about everything in the front end has been impacted. not completely sure about the axle housing or shafts as of yet but most everything needs a going over and possible replace.

It has been a while since I have posted so here is an update and some photos.

Customer is thinking about painting the rest of the two-tone white. I think this would look good even though I like the two-tone look. I just think it flows better since his suspension is painted white.

Also he ended up going with the same rims except they are black instead of chrome. This was mostly because the chrome rims were on eternal back order and we had no idea when the supplier might be able to get them to us. I actually like them.

We replaced the chrome bumper with a PTM white and painted the upper pad white as well instead of the beige. Not sure about the lower valance. Should we leave it black or paint it white also?

Customer has also got a set of the black harley headlamps coming in. I am thinking we should do something with the grille. Maybe a flat or semi-gloss black painted grille. That chrome just stands out too much now.

Any input would be great. As suggested here, we did not really paint anything additional on the suspension. The new axle housing and steering linkage was painted black. We did get the receiver hitch as well as the front tow hooks powder coated white.

Truck is at the shop that did the lift getting the alignment done and getting an overall check to make sure nothing was missed.

Still some work left to do but it is coming together pretty nice so far.

As promised here are some progress pics:

Had to put the factory 20's on to get it rolling around the shop while we waited for the new wheels & tires

Here is the R/F rim that broke all the spokes. One of the worst I have seen. Hell of an impact to do that.

Wheels & tires getting mounted & balanced at the offroad shop.

Trimming the fenders before being sent for the alignment. Rear end is a little low. Waiting for 2" blocks to get finished at the powder coater so we can even everything up.

Oh yea. I will try to snap a photo of the overpass where this happened. You can see where the R/F tire rode up the rt side barrier wall and actually went up over the edge for maybe 10-15 feet and then came back down the wall and rode up against the wall for 40-50 yards. Kinda scary. If it had gone completely over that barrier it would have been a loooooong fall to the ground below.

I feel the same way. Unfortunately as the insured it may be written in his policy that if he does any major custom work that it will only be covered up to $1k unless he adds a custom parts policy to his insurance. Being that he signs the policy and agrees to its term I dont think there is much he can do. Now if he was the claimant and had no such signed agreement with the insurance company I believe that would be a different story.
