do they not make shackles?

for my 1997 F150 2wd? i called all the local auto parts stores and no one can even order it just the later trucks that have the 3" leafs even the aftermarket lowering shackles no one has the right ones for the 87-03 F150. they have them for the 04+ F150 to lower them 2"

im sure someone knows were some are on the internet stock shackles would be fine im tired of having a broken shackle.

Didn't you break the shackle like a month or two ago? And you've been driving it like that since then?

look at that size diff. from the stock one to the new one. the thinkness is inside the stock ones are very thin this one had rusted threw as well and wasnt long for the world.

and after spraying the bolts and bushing for 7 days with PB blaster got an impact and all 4 walked right out even still had ford anti seize on the bolts.

now my truck sits level woohooo!!

no prob. PB blaster the bolts/nuts and the bushings for about a week and they will walk out. took about 10 mins. we also had a 2 ton crane that picked my truck up from the hitch that made it nice as well.

Looks like you lowered it 2" from the picture you posted. Is that correct?

The body shop here has lifts so it should be pretty painless for us as well. Thanks for the tip about the PB blaster to free everything up before hand.

Is there any way you could post an overall photo of how the truck sits now? Would be nice to see what kind of results to expect before going full bore with the repairs.

Thanks again.

If that new drop shackle could speak it would probably be yelling for help to escape all that rust Hahaha.

Such is life when you live in the cold north I suppose. I lived in Colorado and hated commuting in the snow. They would lay down Magnesium Chloride on all the roads. Was supposedly supposed to be less corrosive than what they used previously. If it was it wasnt by much as far as I could tell.

Drop shackles should be in from rough country in the next few days. I will snap some photos if possible.

Good luck with keepin the rest of the truck together
