The "slow" to complete the page would be from a delay in a site responding to a request.

Those buttons need to make a call to an external site and retrieve the information via a javascript. If twitter or G plus one is slow to reply, the page load will stall.

Take a look at the page source to see the where :

If you look at the page info on the media tab, you can see where the green background ( i.e. reply to thread bar, additional options bar in a reply ) is called to the ibserver 1st and then the src is from this site. Not too sure why the call for a background is made to 1 server, which hands it back to 150ol, I am not that good at programming to know why this should be done.

Add in the postrelease calls to an external server, and the FB call on a page load ( and the others show in the page source & page info ), and you have a ton of external servers over the internet ( or private peering points ) that can make a page slow to finish loading.

The status bar in a web browser should show what site it is stalled on when loading.
Thanks.....I meant to say that but was at a loss for words.....

The same goes for pics, vids, and sigs......anything being loaded externally from f150online has to be processed from its origination server....

I don't have all those buttons on a page. All I have is Facebook in the upper right corner.

It is my understanding that, for a brief period, we had fallen off a dual-server type of system. My understanding though is that we're back in line and everything is running smoothly.

Looking at a few tracert reports (pings), everything looks pretty normal to me and I've not received other reports of problematic speed. That's not to say that it isn't us -- but, at this moment, I don't have any reason to suspect that it is...

On my work machine it takes forever to load pages... On the plus side I've been more productive lately!

It lags really bad looking for ad.doubleclick.net.

Every page lags there for 1-2 minutes, then it loads the crappy ads (on the left side of the screen, the vertical one and the one on the top of the page), each time lagging when it goes back to ad.doubleclick.net. Once the ads are loaded it lags again looking for view.atdmt.com, then it loads the posts.

Thanks for that info...

Like you guys, I LOATHE the ads and it sounds like that might be what is hanging for some. I, too, have seen that happen occasionally -- not recently though.

Not sure if your work admins would allow it but you guys should look into getting AdBlock add-ons for your browsers at home. The only ad I get with FireFox is the carsdirect one on the left. Probably frowned upon for an Admin to promote blocking the stuff that pays for the site.

I am running ad block and do not see adds either.....it is the icons communicating with the sites like FB, Twitter and what ever the other ones are. It only takes a few moments but why are they necessary? I do not need to "like" a page or tweet it. Annoying is all, at least for me. Carry on.....nothing to see here! LOL

As the site admin, I need them to load so that I see the 'whole picture' of the site; not just selected portions. One of the 'perks' of the job.

BTW, I'm the admin at work too. LOL!

I have tried several times to respond to this thread but gave up in frustration waiting for the page to load. The header and top advertising always load pretty quickly...but then I have a blank mid and bottom page while my browser says "waiting for F150 online". Guess it is just me, but I have tried from multiple places. Weird...
