2 stroke gas in truck?

Hey, I had to purchase a chain saw this year and I have about a half gallon left of the gas mix. Will putting that in my 04 with a 27 gallon tank be a problem? The saw uses the synthetic oil by the way.....just curious, have not done it. Thanks!

Jim

That'll burn right up -- especially if you dilute it with a full tank of fresh gas. My old man used to burn up all of our old lawn mower, snowmobile and outboard motor gas that way at the end of every season -- of course that was back in the days of less sophisticated vehicles, but I wouldn't sweat it as long as you don't make a steady practice of it.....

i'd rather lose 1/2 gallon in gas than that slight chance of messing something up.

Yea go ahead, a half gallon to a full tank isint going to affect anything. Itll be pretty diluted in all that regular gas

I agree. I would rather loose $2 than have to spend around $3000 to replace an engine.

IMO, it won't hurt anything in that quantity.

If the gas is mixed at 50:1 that is just over one ounce of oil in a half gallon of gas.

Your tank holds 3,456 ounces.

That little bit of oil in your gas will not hurt anything. Its not even enough to cause your truck to smoke.

For those who are worried about it, we are talking about a minute amount of oil, which will burn up in the combustion chamber. It's not like he's putting sugar in the tank, lol.

Yeah, there is a point at which I would not put premix in the tank, but he's no where near that point.

Plus it is a quick and easy way to dispose of gas that he won't need in his weedwhacker for months. The most convenient solution is just put it in the truck.

Thanks for the replies all! I will make sure I do not need the chain saw the rest of the year before doing this. Take care.....

It would be no worse than dumping Seafoam in your gas tank.
