My truck is my commuter car. Whether its going to class (40 miles one way), down to see the G/F, or racing to a fire, she does it all. 245K miles.

Up until last week I had an 2000 Honda Civic EX coupe manual. It was a sharp fun little car to drive but I missed my truck. My cummute is only about 30 miles round trip so it didnt really pay to keep it around. It was nice keeping miles off my truck but oh well. I put it on CL and it was snatched up in two days. Easiest sell I ever did.

Ive just got my truck now since I sold my Mustang a few weeks ago. The truck is much better on gas and I didnt drive the car for a full year anyway.

Im going to stick with one vehicle from now on. Less payments, less insurance, less repairs, less gas, less bills.

Yeah it costs me $80 or so a week for gas but Ive come to expect that and budget accordingly.

FWIW, I have had two Rangers. A 95' reg cab and a 00' ext cab. Both were 4 cyl 5-speed 2WD and they got around 23-24 MPG.

I only drive a couple of miles to a park and ride lot before riding in an older version this:

but most of the time it feels like this, especially if something weird goes on and it turns into a marathon:

The blue one is a '97 with the 2.3 Lima engine and an automatic, while the white one is a '09 with the 4.0 Cologne engine and an automatic. Both average consistently around 22 - 23 mpg the way I drive them, which is mostly "set the cruise at 70 and go".......

The 4-banger is a complete dog, but that V6 is a sweet little engine in this truck.....
