Oops! Wind farms causing problems

It seems the energy of the future may be causing some problems. Seems it creates blank spots for radar, like weather service and DOD.
Of course there is also the problem with migratory birds too.

I think wind farms are ridiculous. There are far better ways...

You know green energy is the new Big Oil and the fat cats need their pockets lined. All we need is the rich environmentalists running the show....

They are good for supplemental power, but you still need a reliable base load (nuclear, coal, etc.). These aren't the answer to our increasing power demands...

Gotta love the media morons and their incredible slant to the news. We have these things by the thousands down here now. They run fabulous in the desert winds we get most of the year. I've yet to see a dead bird of any kind and we are on the major flyway of migratory birds. Most will stay away from them as they are kinda noisy. As far as radar, I've asked the weather guys about the unit down road and if they effected how it worked. The guys said it was like having a new truck and going down the hiway a bug crashes into it and leaves his guts on the windshield. You see it for a second and then pay it no attention as the brain will extrapolate the rest for you. From the pics that were part of the article, they had the gain of the unit apparently set at max which means they don't normally run it that high anyway because of ground clutter and electronic noise. This is a no issue and pure media BS at best.

They have one out here by the base and it interferes with the radar every now and then. They are trying to build more closer but the government is not letting that happen.

x2. I've talked to a radar operator on the issue. It takes seconds for the computer to tune it out. Not an issue.

Company i work for has developed a radar for wind generators that track migratory birds in flight.. not really sure how it works, but i think it switches it off when they approach.. they don't let me play with cool stuff like that
