My brother has a 4.6 in his truck and gets 17-18 mpg and my 5.4 gets 15-17.
My truck gets between 16.5 and up to 18.5 (80 percent highway). Some longer trips cruising at 65 i saw 20.1 mpgs headed up to fort worth.

The WORST mpgs i have ever got was pulling my 16 foot trailer and it avg'd out to 14.8mpg.

The wife drives around 4-500 miles a week so if i get away from the 4x4 and go 2wd with the smaller v8 it should be close to my truck. driving that many miles a week even getting a extra 2 or 3 mpg's will be worth it. Plus i dont need 4x4, it may rain here 10 times a year and snow once if we are lucky.
