Yes I do and its very common practice for HAM's to report CB'ers (should they be stupid enough to divulge enough information on the bands) pushing too much power. Very small risk but I have seen a few drivers fired and a few companies fined from the FCC for it.

It doesn't hurt people if others don't know things...unless they give you an STD I'd imagine.

I didn't realize CB radios were even still around.....

They were HUGE back in the late-70's when I was a kid -- probably because of the whole "Smokey and the Bandit" deal. My neighbor's older brother and his buddies even had a CB shack in their back yard and we used to break into it all the time. Although it wasn't to play with the radios -- it's because that's where they hid their stash of Playboy magazines.....

Yes is it a very common practice for us HAM's to report, and hunt them down. It is not that hard if you know what you are doing.

I would recommend just getting your tech license, 14 for that and about 150 for the radio. With repeaters you can talk 30+ miles on the 2m band. I have my General Class license which is a step above tech and talk on HF from here to, well pretty much everywhere when conditions are right.

I'm guessing from your post count you're new. Welcome to the forums! We should chat sometime. I just picked up an older Kenwood 940S for HF and I've got a plethora of Kenwood U/VHFs (distributor) if you're interested.

Thanks...and sorry that second half was meant for the OP...I forgot to put that in there. I had and just now got off work and then out of a meeting involving what I do as a volunteer. I personally gear towards Yaesu since they are easy to MARS so I can access the old VHF Fire dispatch the ECS group inherited when Fire went 700mhz.

I've got an older Yaesu FT-2400 with the jumper mod to pick up my dispatch on 154. Good, old, trusty design. I've dropped the case more times than I can count. I haven't played with any of the new ones yet. TBH, I wanted to get one (they were cheaper) but I got into Kenwoods. 128 channels in 128 talkgroups is pretty nifty!
